Well I spent the day adjusting and riding and adjusting and riding then riding and off. Riding off riding waiting off on off back on and over and over. Basically the bike runs great until it comes to idling and hot starts. So I set out to tackle that today. I was sick of the fear of stopping to put gas or whatever. So I got the bike good and hot to day and started out mimicking a typical day of errands or short rides with idling stops and lots of off and on again. Any way finally got it to start reliably no matter how long it sat 10 seconds to 1 hour and everything in between. (Cold starts are always easy it was the hot and Luke warm that was causing dread)
So basically what I figured out was the idle was too low and the circuit an 1/8th too lean. So the question is where does your engine idle. Everything I find says lowest reliable speed. I would assume reliable includes restarts right? Anyway I hooked up a tach and I seem to be idling around 1000 rpm give or take 50. What say you too fast too slow or just right or who cares if it works? Thoughts?
I swear I started this dang bike at least 20 times today. 15 of them just to verify I got it. Most of the 15 were 1 kick starts so I believe a woohoo! Is in order. The dang thing better behave tomorrow...
