Yesterday my mate popped round for a brew on his P 125 he arrived in short sleeved shirt and shorts and deck shoes both my wife and I told him he needed to cover up but he was adamant that it was too hot. In the afternoon I went for a pretty good ride to the Trafford centre (mall) about a 40 mile ride I must have seen a dozen or more riders all in shorts and tees riding motorbikes and scooters, I know it's hot but even coming off at 20 mph is going to cause really bad skin abrasion.

Just because it is hot dont forget to wear good protective gear.

I did put on a jacket and overtrousers for a trip down the M3 yesterday, but otherwise it's been T-shirt, shorts and sandals for me.

Let the rider decide.

I read the thread title and thought, "I remember that day. It was in the summer of 1967".

I'd rather be a sweaty moron and have all body parts in the right place than end up having pick the tarmac out of my legs or end up with no face/jaw

Couple of weeks ago i hit a car at 30. The only injuries was a sprained thumb, damaged wrist (braking) and aggrevated an old spinal injury. If I was wearing one of those open face helmets, i would've been seriously mangled. If I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts? No doubt some bones would be broken.

No point trying to tell others though, they know best.

it's great to hear that your gear protected you, but please go easy on the evangelising. we're all adults here, able to weigh up the risks and make our own decisions.

having once been directed to 'a website renowned for disturbing images' by a 'mate' to have a look at a bloke that lost his face due to going down the road face first, i will never use an open face lid, i am willing however to risk road rash and various dismemberment of other body parts when we get some proper scrotting weather (not often)

I've seen it too, about 12 years ago. It is the most mentally scarring image I've ever seen, by a long, long shot. And as you say, it cannot be unseen. If I were you I would consider removing the name of the website from your message, just to save it acting as a signpost to others.
