I work around semi-trucks that are hauling cargo containers, and I saw this today. Many containers are stacked on gravel in the yard, and the truckers are too busy to inspect each can for debris that could fall off and injure or kill a rider.

Please lower your face shield when near trucks hauling containers. Here's what I just saw, that prompted a trucker getting a lecture and this post as a heads up to all of us.

Riding behind a gravel truck on my way to my mechanic's shop what what prompted me to switch from a 3/4 helmet to a modular with full facial protection.

Even the little bits of sand flying off the back of that truck hurt, and the pea-sized pieces that were bouncing on the highway could have done a number on my face.

Riding my motorcycle, I take a rock to the knee pretty much every time I ride on the freeway. At least on the Vespa my legs are protected.

This is precisely why my BF likes to tour on the MP3 400 versus his bike.

Him: "If we go, I am not taking my bike, because everything hits my legs and my knees because they are exposed."

Me: "So the MP 3 is a better vehicle for touring."

Him: "No, my bike has more power."

Me: So take your bike and I will take the MP 3."

Him: "No, I told you, rocks and debris hit my leg all day, with the MP 3 you can ride in shorts if you want and not worry about getting cracked or hit."

Me: "So the MP 3 is a better vehicle for touring."

Him: "No."
