Some will say 10's handle better and feel more secure at higher speeds and over rougher road.. but this is up for debate.. a well setup, put together 8" bike will handle very well... Sometimes it's an aesthetic choice.. 10's on and 8" bike won't hurt you, but purists won't like an 8" bike on 10" wheels..
Here are some more opinions..... |

about an inch of ground clearance, and a wider selection of available tires.
other than that, it's not necessarily better, just different. |

2 inches.
its better for value if you keep bikes as close to original as possible. but I do think its easier to find a variety of tires for 10inch. and I have heard that 8inch tires make the bike much more nimble but less stable at top speeds. |

Thanks so much!
How can I convert my 8 inch scooter into 10 inch scooter? Do I simply buy 10 inch wheels and screw them on? Do I need to do anything else? |

I guess I can keep the 8 inch wheels in case I want to sell it... The 10 inch wheel may make the scotter more stable for my wife...

Re: Advantage of 10 inch wheel over the 8 inch?
miamiscooter wrote: What is the advantage of a Vespa 10 inch wheel over the 8 inch? The advantage of keepin it 8 is if your short in the leg you'll hate going to 10's. |

The stability thing is really not an issue in the real world... I went from 8s to 10s and honestly the difference was fairly minor. Your wife will be just as safe either way.
What sort of riding do you do and what top speeds are you seeing? |

Here's my worthless opinion:
From what I've seen your wife is all about style. My opinion is the original 8" wheels look better on the scooter than 10s. The 10s look bulky and unnatural to me. If god had intended 10s he would have put them on there in the first place. Speaking practically: If your wife is shorter than 5'6' stick with the 8s. She'll like being to have both feet on the ground. What you really should do before you go throwing a ton of money at a scooter and fixing it up, is let your wife learn to ride it, and see if she even enjoys it, or if its just a passing whim. Once you paint it pink and load it up with chrome, your resale market just dwindles to nil. |

As far as the wheels go, bigger diameter wheels = smoother ride on rough pavement with potholes and such. Though for the classic Vespa use and purpose, I'd stick with the 8" as most here are advising. |

I hate throwing money out of the window...LOL |
