Our 07 fly 50's fuel gauge takes a long time, several miles, to register 1/2 tank of fuel, never really getting above that mark. However, the tank is full? Any suggestions? As a side note the trip odometer is not working either?
Thanks

The sending unit in the gas tank is faulty, replace it. It's nice and accessible on the Fly so is a fairly easy job to do.

Think I'll try replacing the sending unit. I'm fine with just knowing how far I can go, if I could get the trip odometer working again. Next project....

Interesting, is your speedometer working? I'd check and make sure everything is connected in the headset and that the cable looks ok. You may need new speedometer cable as well here is one place - http://www.scooterwest.com/items/?_pageCCS=t#page=/item_details/Piaggio-Fly-50-Fly-150-Speedo-Cable/7827

If it's just the odometer not working someone with more experience would need to chime in, but it makes me think that gears in the assembly could be disconnected or something. I'm still learning too.

Thanks for that info. The digital trip odometer doesn't work, the speedo and odometer on the speedo work fine.

At least I assume its a digital trip odometer? Maybe I'm wrong...

Can you take a pic? Or does it look like the item circled in red below?

That could be the clock, as I didn't believe the Fly had a trip meter. At least .. I know mine doesn't and didn't find details of one after a brief internet search.

Josh, well guess my clock doesn't work, I assumed it was a trip odometer. Thanks for the help.

Might be a dead clock battery.

No problem! Honestly, being new here, I'm just glad I was able to assist!

I've had a few issues and only got mine in September but have already ... changed my oil and filters, patched a blow vacuum hose, replaced my rollers for sliders, swapped out my mirrors TWICE once with a "screw extractor", replaced speedo cable, and swapped headlight bulb.

It's seemingly an ongoing, amazingly fun hobby with new things to learn all of the time!

Welcome and Enjoy!

Faulty fuel level sending unit ???
Hi all;
I'm new here. I just picked up a mint condition 2009 Fly 150 with only 122 kms on it.
Only one problem. When the tank is completely full. The dash fuel gauge reads only 1/2 full. Then after riding for about an hour; it shows as completely empty & the orange light comes on, & there's still plenty of gas in the tank.

So I'm assuming it's the fuel level sending unit...
Does anyone here know how to remove one of these? & then what do I check for? Is it simply a float system? Where the float may be 'sticking' or something like that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx
