I've seen quite a few posts on this previously, but after reading and being this is a personal - me, I felt the need to get the consult of the community. Help me!

I'm going from motorcycles - MV Agusta ...Ducati. Decided to get a scooter for fun and had some back issues making the sporty ride of my motorcycle almost torture. I went down to the dealer today, and they have two that I'm evaluating. Issue is one is still in a crate and couldnt see it. The one one the floor was nice but has been on the floor being molested by the casual observer (grrrr.).

So here is the situation....
On the floor, espresso GTV 300. Nice but does have finger prints on it and needs to be cleaned up. I suspect there is likely a scuff here and there in the clear coat from being on the floor. It's gorgeous though and ready to go. I heard issues with the seat but I am only 5'7" so don't believe the seat won't be an issue for me. I like the vintage look and unique aspect of the GTV. This was my initial draw when I looked online!! I like the racks and think they may be useful down the road but I can also see how they could be there and rarely used. I also wonder if the vintage look will wear off and I'll start to wonder if I should have got the normal look vespa look after a while and kick myself?! Lastly, color - I like the espresso but the look for a helmet and a brown bike seems like it limits options for jacket, helmet with a lot of other colors. Sounds stupid but worth consideration....

In the crate. White GTS 300 Super. On face value, I see this is cheaper with good specs. Somewhere in my search someone stated that if you wanted to do highway or uphills then the GTS 300 Super would be the better selection than a GTV. They didn't elaborate but my thought was possibly around weight between the two? If specs are the same - why would this be better for hills? I live at the top of a mountain (1500 vertical feet or so). Second question - white for a guy's scooter (yea or nay?) Given all the options and from what I can tell, there are people that own both in this group - can you all throw some advice my way?? As I said, I tend to like a bit of a sporty ride with my previous motorcycles, but is the super much different in the ride?!? How so and any details on this? Didn't see much input from those that owned both models.

Wife has cleared me for the GTV, so budget for either is not an issue. Wife thinks the GTV is a bit more "manly" in espresso with the split seat and seemed to dissuade me from the "White" Super mostly on color. I'm not completely sold on this. This comes down to which model you all would recommend based on ride and livability. Advice please!

The GTV and Super have the exact same engine so I have no idea why the dealer would think the Super better for hills unless it is due to the difference in the front shock. I have the GTS 250 and would have gotten the GTV except that the seat wasn't comfortable for me and it was $2,000 out the door more. My GTS did have a few scratches and 276 miles on it from being used at a show so I'm probably not one who is concerned about floor models. Laughing emoticon

Personally, I'd go for the GTV not because the Super is white but because I really do prefer the looks of the GTV. If I were to replace my GTS for some reason I'd get a GTV and put my Corbin seat on it. 8)

Thanks for the reply.
The discussion on the GTS being better on hills and highway was on a forum from someone on going for the GTS Super over the GTV. Just made me balk after having them start to prep the GTV, but wanted tomake sure there isnt a major difference on the ride as specs seems like there wouldnt be.

Any other thoughts from others?

White is a great colour for visibility and (believe it or not) keeping clean. As for GTS v GTV, go with what floats your boat. Personally I would never buy a brown vehicle, reminds me of plaid, flares and sideburns. Razz emoticon

I'd go for the GTV, but then I'm hardly unbiased.

Welcome to Modern Vespa. I hope you find the forum as friendly and as useful as I do.

I have a white 300 super and love it. I also love the look of the GTV but it was more money and I have long legs and did not like the split seat which sort of prevents you from sliding back on the seat, but either scoot should be great. Take them both out for a spin and that will help you decide.

Might just be individual scooter differences. We have 2 BV 500s both 2009s and one has almost 5mph faster top end than the other. Both were bought new about a year apart.

I have both... I think the GTV is a little tighter, more comfortable and holds better value than the GTS...

Just my .02

It's a little nicer bike, built with a slightly higher spec....

They are identical in power and performance otherwise.

Personally, I would go for the GTS. I don't like the light on the mudguard, you have less options for windscreens and the split seat is silly. I like to move my body back on the seat when going fast, and sit up when in town. Also leather seat needs more love to maintain. Here in Auckland it seems all the day to day riders tend to be on the GTS, weekend warriors on GTV.

I ended up witht the GTV - my only worry, is getting the rarer colour matched up on mine should I ever need work done. Think either machine would be fantastic though !! Have fun deciding what's best for you.
