Modern Vespa

Recently I posted a picture of a sign that told the story of Brenna and her stolen "Motor Scooter".

Without any prompting, many of the good folks at Modern Vespa asked if they could dontate money to replace her scooter. Long story short, Modern Vespa raised over $500.00 to replace the scooter.

At Brenna's request, any funds in excess of the $249.99 required for the scooter were donated to the Wayside Waifs animal adoption charity. A donation of $201.10 was made.

A $20.00 donation came in after this donation was made, so that money was donated to Scooter-Relief.org

A new scooter has been ordered, and is already on its way to Brenna.

Thanks so much for your outpouring of funds and goodwill. Thanks not only to those who donated, but to those who have provided positive input for this entire project.

According to the vendor, Brenna's new scooter was delivered today by FedEx.

There have also been more donations made! I am still waiting for confirmation of their user names so that I can add them to the list of donors. We have $30.00 more in the kitty. Should it also go to Scooter Relief, or should we pick out another charity for it to benefit?

I am still waiting to hear back from a donor with hit MV Username so he can be added to the list of donors. We have one more Anonymous donor as well.

Several MV members requested Brenna's address so that they could provide non-monetary gifts. If you are one such and would like me to recognize you with the other donors, please contact me via PM.

The final total donated was $501.00

The Scooter cost $249.99.

A donation in the amount of $210.10 was made to Wayside Waifs (should have been $201.01 but I mistyped!).

A donation in the amount of $20.00 was made to Scooter Relief.

There is still $30.00 awaiting allocation to a charity. I am waiting on input from the group before making this final donation.

You just don't see that on many boards out there....

It is my understanding that in addition to the scooter Brenna received from the good folks at MV, there are stickers, a helmet, a tee-shirt and a lock on their way from various donors.

The OP in this thread now reflects all of the donors who contributed (either monetarily or with gifts) , and gives the correct amounts collected and donated so far. I am still entertaining suggestions for what to do with the remaining $30.00. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

You DO deserve a good steak and a beer, or two. That's for sure. I can't believe how quickly this all came together.

And if you don't want to buy yourself a steak and a beer, a lot of places have been really hard hit this year. I am sure the American Red Cross could always use a donation.

BTW, These two threads really inspired me. I signed up to volunteer to be a Big Sister today. I have my interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Send me some pics of you guys, and I can copy the one of Brenna's sign as well as a photo of the happy girl on her new scooter. If I have everyone's permission, I would love to write this up. Way WAY too much hate and anger in this world. A story like this would make a lot of people smile, I think. I would hope.

What we look like doesn't matter. The smile on that little girl's face is the heart of the story. Throw in a link to MV and the site logo, and the story should write itself.

DW see if you could do something with their local paper. I think their community should know what happened and that there are still good people left in this world. International too. Not to toot MV'S horn but i think it would make a good story. So much bad outcome stuff these days that this article would be refreshing. Just a thought.
