I can guarantee without even knowing this person that you'd be fired already if you had scratched her truck and didn't mention it because it was busy and slipped your mind.

wheelz wrote: Well, I decided to go the direct route and straight up ask if she did it. She said she did and didn't think there was too much damage and got wrapped up in to events of the day(it was a hectic day, not that it's really an excuse). I explained the amount of damage and how much more my GTS cost than some "little scooter", and that actually she had done about 300-400 hundred dollars worth of damage. She was apologetic, and offered to reimburse me for any repairs. I guess I can't really expect any more than that. I'm still looking for a new job though. Thank you for the advice, and letting me rant. I was almost hit in the parking area of my townhouse, which caused me to drop the bike. The woman who was driving at first denied that she was at fault, but ultimately agreed to pay for half the repairs. We exchanged information. I sent her the repair estimate (about $700) and never heard from her. Looking back, I wish I had reported it to my insurance company. |

I certainly feel there was a lot of BS in what she had to say.
Do I think she thought I wouldn't notice? Sure I do. Do I think she is only sorry cause I found out? Sure I do. Can I proove any of that? Nope. That's why the search for a new job continues. The end result was she did say she was sorry and that she would pay for it. Besides,it not happening at all, I can't ask for much more. |

I frequently see where someone gets bumped at a light or forced to take a spill due to being cut off and the response is always just some unhappy words and a ride away. These are abuses/auto accident that would certainly result in accident claims were they both cars. Maybe I make way less that everyone else, because I can't imagine someone knocking over or bumping a $6000+ scoot...boss or not, and me not pursing compensation to fix it. Especially someone like the boss in this story that shows no remorse or responsibility at all. Again, I'm not belittling anyone, I'm just amazed these abuses seem to regularly happen and so few people stand up for themselves and their property. Also want to add that it sucks this happened to your scoot, wheelz. |

In my view she is only sorry she was busted. The very fact that she did not own up immediately speaks volumes. You did the right thing in taking the high road and not lowering yourself to her level. I believe you are also doing the right thing by looking for new employment. Good luck to you on getting the scooter fixed and finding a new job.

After looking at everything, none of my metal is scratched or dented. All scratched pieces are available.

I'm glad to hear you are getting your scoot repaired and the guilty party is paying as is appropriate (everyone is responsible for their actions, and legally responsible for damage done). I really can't believe you fussed and fretted over whether you should mention it????

A steak drops to the floor...no problem...right back on the grill. Sounds crazy, but we know she doesn't think much of someone's $6000+ scooter, so how much would she care about lint and germs on someone else's $20 steak? If nobody sees it its ok, right? |

Make up a list of everything you have to fix with prices and give it to her. Don't give her too much time too pay. Some people have a crazy way of changing their mind about paying once they find out how expensive it will be. She might even turn around and say it was your fault for parking there.

I'd still get e notarized statement from the guys who witnessed it.
If she drags her feet, or even fires you, and only then you file a complaint... It looks like payback. Trust me, the couple of bucks you'll pay for the notarized statement will be worth the knowledge that she can't turn around and make you out to be the bad guy. |

They may have free notary service for their customers. My bank does.. I think I can get 2 items notarized per day. |

In this world you have to cover your ass. Sad but true, especially in this circumstance. She is playing a stall tactic and its a bad sign. She placated you by admitting it but she has not paid for the repairs yet.
You have got to run this through her insurance. It's the right thing to do. Period. She knows it... |

I hate it when people get screwed over! Dammit people don't be so wimpy. But don't also be a total ass.
Going after someone's insurance benefits is a whole lot different than a civil suit that effects them financially. For some reason people think its the same thing. It's not. |

But let's not pretend that there is no financial downside to imposing the insurance route on her. |

A problem may arise when the actual repair costs are known. She may have offered a few hundred dollars, not realizing that Vespa body repairs can be quite expensive. Once she gets the bill, she may balk and withdraw her offer. That is where the insurance company would be very handy.
I still would like to know how she knocked it over twice. |

Glad you got her to admit it. To bad it wasn't on tape or video. Get your/her insurance involved because it will be more money than you think. If she can afford a new big ass truck insurance make them pay. To bad if it goes up. She had her chance to not got thru them. Get notarized statements from witnesses and good luck on the new job ( the one your going to get). Good luck in general.
