Okay, it's a short list, but I don't watch all that many movies, so hopefully I can still chime in.
Leaving Las Vegas I mean really, a movie about a guy set to drink himself to death? And a hooker that won't quit? And each trying to fix the other? Couldn't handle it, but forced myself to stick it out waiting for the big redeeming moment...which never happened. Happy Feet Encouraged to tag along with my wife who wanted to take our 3-year-old (at the time) to the movies. Really?....hip-hop singing and dancing penguins? I think I refused any more kid movies at the theater for the next year. Well that's dredging the very bottom of the list. Think I'll add Braveheart for gratuitious blood-spurting. Besides, Mel turned out to be a bit of a twerp. And I'll go along with smorris on Jim Carrey.... Paul: Flying sharks? Really? Hmm. Is it a documentary? |

Of Human Bondage and Francis. They are both fine films, but they are so depressing to watch. I've seen them both once and will never watch them again.
I can't think of the other three of my bottom five but there are a bunch that I've wished I had never seen. It's just that I feel I have a certain amount of time invested already watching the wretched movie, I may as well finish it. I should have went with my first instinct. |

1. Intersection - (Sharon Stone/Richard Gere) My memory of this film is, possibly unfairly, tainted by the company I was with. Let's just say that date could have gone better.
2. Any Sci-Fi/fantasy - Bores me to tears 3. Any film where the hero walks nonchalantly toward the camera while a huge explosion happens behind him. iv) Alvin And The Chipmunks II The Squeakquel - Never take a party of young children for pizza, fill them full of sweets/candy and then try to sit through this movie. Just take my word for it, don't do it. Ever. 5. Dear Mr Hicks - Niche this one. |

1. Borat- This was the dumbest movie ever made..period. 4 of us started to watch it and within 5 minutes we all looked at each other at the same time and agreed to never speak of it again. If I could punch that guy in the head I think I would. I don't think I ever turned a movie off, at least within 5 minutes of it starting.
2. Grease-Despise it. 3. Red State - Very Disturbing 4. Observe and Report - Its a disgrace to society 5. Madea goes to Jail . |

Movies listed are in no particular order, but IMHO are some of the biggest wastes of time, money, and resources known to man. As an added bonus, what makes these films infinitely more annoying to me is that they all reached massive levels of success. The notion that such steaming piles of crap could be worshiped by so many people on this planet truly does make me weep for humanity. I mean, come on, the human mind, spirit, and experience is one of the most powerful forces in the universe. We, the human race, have singled handedly figured out how to split the atom, harnessing the the power of the gods, we have set foot on other celestial bodies, and we have created a global network that is capable of connecting every person that has ever existed to each other and yet these five movies succeeded at the box office:
1. Napolean Dynamite 2. Borat 3. Sharknado 4. Bruno 5. Blair witch project (creativity points for the group of friends that made it, but good googly moogly, it grossed like $200M at the box office?)

Inception - a clever film for people who need everything explained to them five times
Iron Man - laughable cipher of character spends time agonising and then gets into a robo suit for hours. Judge Dredd - sad, all satire of the original comic removed, replaced by brain dead computer game where everyone dies in a revolting graphic way. I like a bad film, but it must have a bit of spirit to it. I can't bear watching some highly expensive computer generated piece of violence with a plot so thin you could blow your nose with it. There are tons of stories to tell and make, so when that rubbish which is just cold and expensive, I think, couldn't someone have done something better with this money? Like Behind the Candlebra. That is brilliant. Cost very little to make, great film. |
