Hi, recently got my first ever scooter... A 2006 Vespa LX125.

I've noticed that there seems to be an oil leak with a drip coming down a rubber pipe. It's not fast as it never leaves a spot on the floor even over night, I've attached a pic. Any ideas?

Many thanks[/img]

Took the little cover off behind the foot rests and pretty sure it's coming from this area, also looking underneath from the left (sidestand) there's a cover with 4 bolts and one of the lower ones has oil on. Will it just be a gasket or maybe tighten up the bolts ?

Couldn't really get at all of the bolts but the ones I could are tight. I've booked my local bike workshop to have a look Friday but I'm wondering if its worth it, overnight it leaves nothing on my drive, and left for 24 hours it left one drop on the drive. What do you guys think?

The gasket is only £4.23 http://www.vespaspares.co.uk/spares/partImage.asp?GPN=829817&uid=0

Not a hard job to remove the valve cover and crankcase filter in one piece with the tube , Then just a clean /check tighten back with new gasket
You could also do or have the valve clearance checked while the top is off

Thanks, id probably rather the garage do it this time round, what about the part to the right of the main cover, like a square piece with what look like 4 star head bolts? Do you think it's a long job?

You need a torx bit for star looking bolt. Its a fast easy job with the right tools.Youd save money doing it your self.

I've downloaded the workshop manual for a 150 (close enough)

I'm at least going to get the workshop to see it so they can diagnose it correctly, if its cheap enough to have them replace a few gaskets then I think ill go for that

When you say filter, you mean the part on the right (4 torx bolts)?

You may be better off taking it to the garage. Those screws that hold the valve cover/breather cover are hard to reach (the bottom one is a RPITA). Have you recently had your valves adjusted? The gasket may have to be removed and replaced. Good luck.

Picking bike up tomorrow morning, they said half hours labour plus cost of gasket so looks around £40

I'd like to give the underneath a good clean to clean up after the leak, what's the best stuff to use?

I seem to have this leak again, and its not the rocker gasket
,its a constant drip forming on one of the three thin hoses that hang down underneath the bike, what are these rubber hoses?

Any ideas? I really can't tell where it's coming from. It seems to be from the carb vent hose but there's also oil covering this hose for about two inches from the tip.. Could it just be blowing up with the air while riding?

Could this also explain why the oils being blown around this area? I've had a torch up under and looked directly above the carb vent hose and it's dry so can only think it's actually coming from the hose and being blown around ...

Any help guys...

Mild degreaser and keep it off the finish ( any thing you don't want dis colored
Simple-Green might get it with paper towels. This is mild.

Break cleaner and wipe with paper towels .Not as mild.

Park it up against a wall with some one. With them holding it and reving it .
While your looking for the leak.Dont let it fly off the stand.

Good luck
