Hello all,

I have a concept in mind for "theme"ing my MP3 into a Tron-ish design using white or blue reflective tape for the Energy Lines.

Good thing about a Vinyl or Reflective tape design is that if you change your mind or if it doesnt look right, you can always remove it.

My question for those of you that have used reflective tape already, is there point to where the tape is actually a hindrance to either the rider or other drivers? Below is a concept image i just mocked up. My ideal design would be something on the ABS plastics on the Front, Side and Trunk as well as the Wheel Rims (and possibly top case in the future)

would love to hear from you guys and gals - Thanks

I'd say when you reach the point when you ask yourself "where else can it put this stuff" you've gone too far. What you have looks good just don't go overboard.

You can definitely go too far with reflective stuff. I think your design is great, I wouldn't add any more...

I agree with Zombie. And what you've got there is pretty DEF (just learned that word from another post. Hope it's appropriate)

I like it - I think you chose well to make the lines work with the bike. Yes, there is a too much. No, you are nowhere near there.

That looks good but there is a point of too much. In the process of doing something with my BV350 but can't decide. Because I crashed it I won't get it back for weeks.

The fact you have a theme in mind (Tron) makes this a winner Laughing emoticon

I think that looks OK.

You said you're using white or blue tape? That'll probably reflect better than the black reflective I used.

Remember that it's only going to reflect light, not generate it's own. If you want that and you want to really go Tron, though, you need to look into using Electroluminescent (EL) wire. Check this one out: http://imgur.com/a/4lSvJ

Stick with your theme and you'll be ok and to be honest go overboard if you want it's your scooter. Might make a good conversation piece. Have fun.

I reckon the nearest you can get to this scheme (without the 'police') the better.

I wonder how often he gets cut up?

Thanks Cubs, the EL stuff can get pricey and not sure how much of a battery drain it would be. if this turns out looking ok, EL might be something i look into for the long term. especially if i can hook it up to some kind or switch so it wouldnt run during the day

the other reason for the tape is just to be extra visable at night. having a black scooter worries me when night riding. Anything i can do to make cars spot me is ok by me.

That sums up my thoughts on the matter as well. I'd love to run some EL wire, but just haven't set aside the time to plan or the finances to make it happen.

On my 500, I put black reflective tape on all of the exposed tubing, front, back and sides. You don't have that option, though...

I think you could even add some reflective panels to the sides (like on the gray section just over the floorboards next to the gas tank) and put a design on the back (similar to the one on the front) and it still wouldn't be overloaded.

Here is a paint I have been "fooling" around with Laughing emoticon
It is semi-transparent , sort of a satin finish, but a coat of clear coat and it shines , I am going to do some parts of my ET4 later so will post pics after dark

I think too much looks tacky, but if you can be seen to be called tacky, its all that matters.
