Hi,
I've been getting mixed messages about where to get a Vespa repaired and or serviced in Boston.

What has been your experience?

Where do you get your service?

Do you travel outside the city for service?

Thank you!

Hi BB and welcome to MV.

The only shop I've been to in your part of the country is Modern Classics in the Brentwood area of Washington, DC (955 V St NE Washington, DC 20018
(202) 248-1926). Wellesley is awesome, as are the rest of the guys there. They're all riders, all good mechanics and really decent folks. It may not be worth the 7 hour ride for you, though.

Hopefully, some MVers more local to you will chime in with useful info. Good luck!

This has been a problem for Boston area peeps. There are MVers there, but I haven't heard much in the way of their preferences. I know of a very large outfit that they don't seem fond of.

You don't mention what you're riding, but there is a vintage guy, Eric, at this website http://metropolisscooters.com/appointments.html
Be patient if you go that route; I understand this is not his main job.

If you want to enjoy a day trip, Great Bay Motorcycles (http://www.greatbaymotorcycles.com) on Lafayette Rd (US 1) in North Hampton, NH is worth a try. Nice guys, and good shop. They deal in Triumph, Ducati, and Vespa.

I have used Seacoast Sport Cycle (Derry Vespa) in southern NH (60 miles from Boston) where I bought two Piaggio/Vespas and Cycles 128 in Beverly. It's a wait for an appointment at Seacoast but they do great work at a fair price. Pick up is $20 and the same for drop off. They have open first come first serve on Saturday mornings but you need to queue up early (1 hour works for me before opening). Cycles 128 is not a Vespa dealer and you need to specify exactly what you want done for routine service down to telling them to use synthetic oil. They used dino oil once on my wife's S150 and I had to make them drain and switch it. They were very nice about it but just beware. Cycles 128 does service a number of Vespa so I am surprised by this. Cycles 128 tends to be more expensive but they are only 5 miles from my house vs 40+ miles to Derry, NH.
