Been searching for the right Vespa for a few weeks now. Found that the dealer here has new 2009 LX150S model for $3500. 1 white, 2 black. Only problem is that the wife didn't care for the rather small area for her feet, and the S model is a single seat. (Could buy a dual seat for $140), but I would prefer the classic round headlight. Wife likes the fold out foot pegs of the GTS, so that is what we are concentrating on. We found a used 2007 GTS250 for $4000. It's in near new condition, only drawback is that it is silver (not my favorite color). also, I'm not particularly fond of digital dashes. Would prefer the 300, but only one around here is a couple of GTV's at dealer. A little out of our price range.

So, I've been checking the classifieds. As it has been turning out, there aren't very many used Vepa's for sale around here. Tried Craigslist, Cycle Trader and Mlive. Found 1 GTS200 in Lansing. So, why aren't there more Vespa's for sale around here?? I don't want to just settle for the first GTS that we came across (the silver one) I'd like to have a few choices, but right now there aren't any. Trying to hold out and hope that something turns up before summer runs out.

most of us have found that he foot pegs on the GTS are useless, The way they are positioned the rider in back can't really use them. Adapters are pretty steep. ride everything first!!

+1 While you can ride 2 up on a Vespa, It can be uncomfortable for short pillion riders and tall riders. The rider would have to sit on the very front of the seat, so if they are tall there would be little knee room. Short pillion riders would not be able to reach the foot pegs very well. Definitely test ride or sit on a few before buying.

Don't rule out a GTS or GTV 250ie.... those are GREAT engines. I have no problems riding at highways speeds and I have been absolutely thrilled with mine, (as most of the 250 owners here are). Whatever you finally choose, I am sure you will love it!

Look closer at that GT200 in Lansing. I'm told it's one of the most bulletproof Vespa ever made.

Gotta admit, both bikes perform quite well. Been at a stop light on my "big bike" and end up having them pass me up on the freeway after a short distance. Happy hunting!

Be sure you actually sit on the two-seat version before you buy, they have a totally different feel to them that you may not like. Better yet would be to go for a ride on one. Of course it's no big trick to swap them out either way but it's always nice to get it right the first time.

Re your question as to why there are so few Vespas available in your area, could be it's summer and all the happy owners are out there enjoying their's.

Keep looking, you're sure to find what you want.

My wife finds that the LX150 is more comfortable as a passenger than our GTS250. But I like the added accelleration and speed of the GTS, especially with a passenger.

Definitely try both, if you can, before you buy.
