Question: For *long distance transport on the back of an RV is it best to carry the scooter uncovered or covered? I've always gone without but I know there are specially designed covers made expressly for that purpose. The arguments against pretty much take the same position; that dirt will find its way underneath and abrasion will follow. That seems to make sense which is why I've never gone with a cover.

What say you, have any of you tried any of the specialty covers? I think it would be nice to add a bit of protection from debris, etc.

For reference here's one company who makes them:

*long distance = 500+ miles as an example

The issue is not dirt, but the movement of the fabric itself. A flapping piece of the cover can wear the paint down to bare metal in a single trip.

It's happened many, many times to many, many people.

"GatorHIde" offers covers intended to travel down the road without whipping around. I'm not sure they offer anything sized for scooters, though. You might contact them and see if they can supply something that will work for you.

Yup, that's what I've always heard. Maybe I'll just stick with the buck naked approach and move along.
