Just put in the 10g. Dr. Pulley sliders in my GTV 250ie...

The stock ones that came out had no real flat spots, and weighed 11g.

The sliders went in very tight... I was concerned that they would bind and not travel like they are supposed to.

Everything seems ok... engagement, and disengagement is very smooth

Engine braking seems to hold longer

Nice pull from the bottom... I don't think there is any more on the top end.

Im going to give it a few hundred miles for them to "settle in" and then pull it apart and inspect it.

Sliders
Just watch for a oil leak. Just put original rollers back in after sliders tore out my oil pan gasket. Doesn't happen every time but does often enough to keep an eye out.

Right on... Ive seen the reports... That is one of my motivations to pull it apart after a couple hundred miles for inspection

I'm interested in hearing about this as well. I have a set of 10.5g sliders in the garage that I'm going to install in the next thousand miles or so. I need to replace the belt and clean up the clutch. All the talk of the oil leak has me a little concerned.

I put 10 gram sliders in my GTS, but after a month I went to back to stock rollers.

The performance off the line was dramatically improved with the sliders. And the overall fuel economy improved. But I found the top end sorely lacking.

I used to spend a particular stretch of my commute bouncing off the rev limiter at 140-142 imdicated. But with the sliders the best I could do on that section was 134-135 indicated... and that only with a good tail wind.

Since about 95+% of my time on the scooter is WOT, and I'm not a jack rabbit kinda guy off the starting block, the 10 gr sliders didn't make much sense. I'd go with the 11 gram sliders, but for some reason they aren't availible here. Maybe I'll pick some up in the UK or the US.

I have 12g sliders, no problem top end, and pretty good off the line!

I had a better average mpg than my two Ironbutt companions, if I remember correctly.

I might go with 11.5g next time.

RE: sliders
My oil pan gasket started to leak in about 100 miles. Of course by then the gasket was gone. Might consider looking at it within 50 miles or less. Look for telltale groove in case under outer pulley. Just my 2 cents worth.

I can't remember ... do you have a top box, crash bars, and front rack? My experience with the sliders was abysmal. But my GTS was bare of accessories then. VRM has mine and is holding on to them for dear life. He says he will never go back to stock. I believe they are 12 g but he always has a lot of baggage and heavy tools on his bike plus the top box. Like Trep said I lost a quite a bit of top speed with the 12g. I would hit the rev limiter constantly at less than 4,000 RPM. Then I tried the low one (I think the 9.5g and was flying like a rocket but busted the coolant hose that connects to the thermostat. Very strange things happen when you push your Vespa to its limits. I got stranded in the middle of the highway at night. I lost all my coolant and had to refill and reconnect on the side of the road. So now I am back to standard rollers. I don't mind changing them every 4k. I think that the rumor Dr. Pulleys last forever is just a rumor. VRM checked his shortly after installing them and the gram inscription on the side was already worn out.

I took it all back apart this afternoon.... All looks good inside... I gave it a real good cleaning, and put it all back together.

The wrench heads can correct me if I'm mistaken, but I thought the rev limiter kicks in as a function of RPMs. It shouldn't be possible to hit the limiter at 4000 RPM no matter what.

Trep it was a very strange experience. You are probably right. But it felt like I was hitting my top speed at lower RPM's. It became even stranger when I gave them to VRM and he literally fell in love with them. I was and still am confused about that experience. So take what I say with a grain of salt. I know that the 9.5 is much too light for my present set up (low body weight but heavy accessories).

Raider, I called a buddy and asked him to bring me a clamp and antifreeze. It was dusk and another biker very soon stopped and asked me if I needed help. I explained to him what happened and that my buddy was coming to rescue me. Let me tell you, in all my Vespa adventures, this one counted way up there in special effects. Can you imagine all your coolant spewing all over the hot engine? It was like I had suddenly materialized from the other side in a haze of dry ice. Very cinematic but kind of stinky.

Got the 12g sliders in my Gts300. Runs great, just wants to go zoom all the time. Only a few hundred kms so far so stay tuned.
