I have an et4, bodywork isn't perfect; a few scratches here and there and a couple of cracks in the floor panel and side panels. I want to paint it but I aren't sure about which bits to replace, which to treat for scratches, and which to just paint over? Anyone offering any advice?

Cheers

Harry

My ET4 has some cracked plastic as well, all factory painted. I live with the damage because (1) I got it for a good price, and (2) it would be expensive to fix it perfectly.

I think what you need to do is decide the minimal damage you are willing to live with, then replace what you can't live with and paint it...

Yes I agree on all but one counts. Its a bit of a bummer if I spend quite a bit of money on painting it if it still has some dings. Seems like its not worth painting. And if I did paint then decide I wanted to replace a side panel or two then I'd have to repaint the replacement which leaves me further out of pocket. Hmm... decisions decisions!! I would love to have my et4 in tip top condition with a fresh paint job. Some of the et4s I see on here are beautiful I just don't know how people get them looking so good haha!!

It is hard sometimes to make something look good after it has sustained damage (and often more expensive to fix). You might consider selling your existing scoot and putting the money towards a nicer one.

Also a good idea. Might settle with this and not change anything and then in a year or so sell and try get my hands on one in better condition, maybe a different model. I do like the ET4 when it's brushed up though

To be fair this is my first scoot and first vespa so if I keep this for a year or so then I will be able to choose one with a bit more knowledge instead of buying the first thing that came across my path!!

Yes, you would be in a better, more educated position at that point. I personally own an ET4 (my first Vespa) and I love it. The only thing about it is that I don't quite feel comfortable on the highway and will probably go for a 250-300cc Vespa down the road.

You can have your ET4 so you have something to ride, and be on the lookout for a scoot that is more to your liking. It takes the pressure off purchasing when you already have a scooter!!!

I want to put graphics on my scooter, to give it a Yogi Bear Theme. Though I am so paraniod about someone putting a brush to it.

Get some custom graphic vehicle wraps done. Easy to remove without damaging the paint in the future.
