Yesterday my LX50 4T started to make a rattling sound coming from the exhaust, like something metalic is loose inside.
Does anyone have a clue of what could be causing that.
I know that without the "sound" it's hard, but any hint/help is very appreciated.

How old is your LX50? How many miles does it have on it?

Have you been able to put a wrench on the various bolts the fasteners that clamp the exhaust down? Aside from the rattle is the exhaust making any other abnormal sounds?

I'm not sure if the LX50 had an exhaust gasket, but it's a consumable that needs replacing. Is it possible that some of it has entered the exhaust chamber?

Others will be along to help, but a bit more information would be beneficial.

Yes I was. And no, no abnormal sounds.

Already take it off and shake it, noise still in the muffler

Vid / sound http://youtu.be/Qu5-VyCOgIw

Sounds like a 2stroke, but it's a 4stroke...

Is the Crome pice on muffler loose?Might be an illusion but is your wheel wobbling ? There's like a can with holes all around it that wore out and is floating in muffler!!

Exhaust noise
Leo Vince sp3 on mine when I got it. Tinny rattling sound at certain rpms, drove me nuts trying to figure out what the noise was. Finally took it to local Vespa guys, and they say there's a plate tack welded inside chamber, and sometimes a tack breaks causing the rattle. Might be your situation as well. Gonna live with it 'til I replace exhaust, no hurry though.

The Chrome piece isn't loose.
The wheel isn't woblling.
The metal plate loose inside the muffler also doesn't convence me since i remove the exhaust early today and it only seem to have some loose rust inside.
Anyway, thanks for all your help.

Should I try to fix it ?!
The weirdest thing is that it started to make more like the same sound, but with a lot more "bass" to it. And on friday, half way home, it started to sound like that.
If it is the muffler, how hard is it to cut it open, fix and weld again.
( I'm not a pro but I can weld quite well, and my holidays begin next, so I'll have the time)

When I seen pic it was on some other forum.I googled "what does an lx50 muffler look like inside" .If I remember right dude said it was a waist of time,he said it didn't do any thing except he couldn't hear the rattle. Then bought a new one n not long after.
It looked easy.the key is where he cut it

OK, so monday morning I went to my local Vespa shop, and as soon as I started the engine the guy said to me: "É o escape" (thats the exhaust). He also said that it's safe to ride like that, and I've been riding... but I'm starting to loose my hearing, and my head it's starting to ache...

Anyone knows of a good exhaust that I can get, besides from original. Also I'll be "upgrading" my engine to 80cc, so advice on the kit will also be appreciated.

Edit
: Sorry, forgot to say thanks, to all the guys that help me out...
THANK YOU
