Modern Vespa

...so I bought a 2013 GTV 300, brand new. Had it 4 days (bought Friday) and I'm driving to the coffee shop on Tuesday and look down at the speedo and there is a crack going from the left side all the way through the plastic at the bezel and spidering toward the right. No impacts or damage to it, just appeared. WTF! I'm thinking flawed plastic and maybe hitting normal bumps while riding led to a split. Just completely weird.

....called the dealer and the replacement is the entire instrument panel, but they will be covering under warranty from the sound of it. It is still just completely odd. I'll post a pic in a few, but talk about disappointing right out of the gates. ...so it's 2-3 weeks for the part to come.

Ouch! That's no fun. I had a problem with my speedo, but related to the cable slipping out. Sorry you had this happen, I hope you are enjoying your GTV otherwise!

I have not heard of that happen yet, but it I guess it is just a matter of time!

Have em get you one that actually gives the actual speed.

I've had my GTV for 4 years and on MV for about that long. Don't recall a thread ever talking about the plastic cracking like that. Glad its under warrantee.

...yea, was just totally and completely weird. Not sure how or why it cracked, when it happened, or how. I searched and didn't find much like this so chalking this up to a fluke. Other than this little hiccup, GTV is awesome.
