Giving Merlin a bath and wondered if Rain-X is a good product for the non-glass windshield?

Carolan--- Hi buddy!
Don't risk it. RainX has petroleum distillates I believe. You may have a difficulty getting the RainX off. I would be afraid of etching the poly carbonate Givi. Get some Plexus from your motorcycle shop, or Pledge furniture polish if Plexus isn't available. For Light cleaning, water and soap with a soft cloth towel is always safe. Never use any paper product on it, as paper --- even wet paper towels--- acts as an abrasive. Come to California and wash mine too! Steve ⚠️ Last edited by HoneyBadger on UTC; edited 1 time

Regular Rain-X is risky on any plastics, yeah. There's a special Rain-X for plastics as a result

I don't know about the special Rain-X for plastics, but I've had riders from the North here tell me that Rain-X causes visors to fog up in chilly weather. Now I have no idea if it would do that to the wind shield, but I figured that I would warn you.

Don't use Rain-ex. Rain Zip is the way to go. Water beads right off.

I've used Rain-X on the plastic before with no ill effects. However I do believe that a plastic-specific product is a safer bet. There are several that work well.

I tried rain-x on my Givi once. I could never clean it off. It looked like I cleaned my windshield with vaseline.
