I saw that one...
There was a PX 200 (in silver, very late model; maybe 2007). For sale in SF in nearly brand new condition a couple of weeks ago for $4k. This one looks like a PX200. It has the disc brake, the body pieces and grips... Seems like it could be authentic. Does anyone really care about the 'Serie Speciale?'. Just a marketing gimmick. And they made / numbered them for every country? It was more that that was near to be the end of the line for the PX. Looks fine. Just modified in a very ugly way. The star hubcap is something sold by Scooterworks, etc. It's probably a good bike, if you de-two-tone it... |

I talked to the guy about it a bit. I think it's legit. He says it's from Austria, where they did a smaller run of these "Specials" than in the UK. He has lots of pictures. It's a modern PX200 with special paint and a numbered plate. A decent bike, I suspect, but he wants a premium for the "rare" factor of like $2K-4K over, and it wasn't worth it to me. I offered to trade him my '06 LX150 for it... No.

Disc brake 200s are quite rare in the US, since they were never legally imported. I think it's worth a good deal more than everybody's '79 P200e with a tractor light. How much more? Well it's worth whatever someone will pay. Think his price is too high? Don't buy it. You could put together a well-built 200 motor in an '05 PX150 for maybe $4k, but even then it wouldn't be a "rare, never imported" model.

and similarly, you could find a P200e in a carport for $500 and a abandoned Stella like I did for $100, swap the brake and buy the EFL PX trans for $300 and it's close enough to the same thing and I was happy. I am missing the coveted SE plate though.

70 kilometers on it? What, do people just buy these things to go whack off in the garage looking at it? It's not a TV200. my wiener hurts just thinking about it.
