Greetings all;
I just purchased a 2007 LX50 and have a few questions as it didn't come with an owners manual.
1. When I turn the key to the "on" position, NOTHING on the dashpod lights up until I actually start the vespa. On my other Vespa (2004 ET4), the dashpod lights up when the key is in the on position. This concerns me because I would normally think the OIL light should come on when the key is in the on position, and then go out when oil pressure builds up (just like the old Volkswagens used to do!).
2. I don't like the placement of the turn signals on the LX50. they are located underneath the handlebars and look like they were an afterthought. I much prefer the sleeker design of the ET4 where the front turn signals are incorporated into the front body shield of the bike, below the horn. Does anyone know WHY they are where they are on the LX50 (legal???) and has anyone MOVED them to be where they are on the ET4?
3. I've checked the classifieds and ebay looking for an owners manual for the LX50, with no success. If anyone can point me in the right direction, i'd be appreciative. thank you, brian in NJ

Hey Brian

1 - The Oil light comes on when you start the scooter. Nothing happens when you turn the key

2 - they seem perfectly placed to me. Everyone has a different preference I suppose

3 - LX50 User Manual, Workshop Manual and Wiring Diagram can be downloaded as PDFs from this link - http://www.wotmeworry.org.uk/manuals/Vespa/LX50/LX50%202%20Stroke/

All the best!

DOT. Everyone moves them. Kit available for the 150s:

http://www.scooterwest.com/items/?_pageCCS=t#page=/item_details/LX150-Euro-Turn-Signal-Kit/1634

Give them a call, maybe can be modified for the 50. Or easy enough to cut and splice factory harness if you have skills.

LXTURNKIT from Scooterwest.com
folks;
Still need help here on the relocating the blinkers issue.

I ordered the LXTURNKIT from scooterwest, which comes with an additional adapter which I necessary for the LX50.

Directions are good UNTIL you need to hook up the additional adapter. It has a connector plug which is easy to figure where it goes. On the other end of that connector are 2 loose wires, one white, one pink, that you're supposed to quick splice into the original harness blinker wires, which I've done.

Here's the problem:
When the vespa is on, but not running, the blinkers are now so dim you can barely see them. When the vespa is running, the blinkers don't work at all.

Am I doing something wrong? scooterwest has been little help on the matter, said they don't install many of these, and I can send it back if I want.

HELP PLEASE!!! thanks, brian

Check your phone messages. I spoke with the mechanic and left you a phone message regarding which wires to splice into. Not sure if you've already got that far.

Hi
Just wondering if the fix worked in the end.
I have an LX50 also and I want to install the euro turn kit too. I don't mind doing some extra wiring myself. Installed a new horn and cigarette plug with a new feed from the battery.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

If you have skills and don't plan on ever going back to stock, don't really need a kit. Kit just makes it plug-and-play.

I didn't use one. Unwrapped the harness, rerouted, spliced, and terminated as needed and wrapped it back up. Works and looks like it came from the factory this way.

Can you give me a small wrap up of what you did?
I brought my own parallel power from the batter to the front to run my stuff. I was thinking I could run a line from that in parallel to the lights? 1) does this make sense 2) should I be afraid of draining the battery to much?
SWest said that my power from my alternator was AC and that's why it won't work.
Does this all make sense?

Simple cut and splice to reroute signal leads to legshield lenses. Terminate existing driving light leads at legshield. Both driving lights and signals at the legshield doable as a DIY but more involved, may be better off with the kit. Not LX but detail would be similar:

Ive had an LX50 and when you turn the key the oil light should come on for a few seconds and turn off.

Why wouldn't the euro kit from scooter west not work on the lx50? Something about power?
