If I get really stressed out and whine enough, my boss will give me a shot of rum. He caught on that he now has a pavlov's dog on his hands.

Once a month we have "Friday Wine". (aka, Friday Whine) where we get to stop work a little early and drink company provided wine, and whine.

And our annual BBQ and Christmas parties are always an open bar drunk fest.

We have to pay for the soda machine though.

As a freelance writer, I require a reasonable amount of bourbon and/or rum to stimulate the creative process. This is, of course, paid for by my employer.

All my coworkers have bottles of liquor stashed in their cabinets. When things get tough or there is something that needs to be celebrated, everyone brings out their bottles and shares whatever they've got.

Current contents of my cabinet: Tullamore Dew 12yr Irish Whiskey, Zaya rum, Agua Libre rum (which is really rhum), some Italian grappa, and some Sailor Jerry spiced rum (don't ask).

I generally have a bottle of Black Maple Hill bourbon on hand, but it generally is the first thing to go.
if you like bourbon you gotta try Corner Creek. no need to cut it with anything. Neat.

Working out of your home has many advantages and disadvantages. The bar is always open, but I have to buy my own.

For those that like Rum, try Ron Abuelo Centuria from Panama. It's a Rum for sipping and it is quite good. We are lucky to get a bottle or two every year when relatives come to visit

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but most of that free air you're getting is nitrogen.

My company has a kitchenette with refrigerator, water cooler, and a coffee station on our executive/sales floor and on another floor a cafeteria with all that, lots of seating, toaster ovens, microwaves, and big screen TVs. There are coin soda and snack machines.

In 40+ years of employment, I've never worked anywhere that provided more than simply a drinking fountain (which usually tasted foul, so I brought my own.) No snacks, no coffee/tea, nothing. Most had vending machines, but nothing gratis.

It tastes closer to tequila than to rum, but more like tequila that was made from grass. Which, in fact, it is -- sugar cane ...Nobody.
Jess this sounds like the staple liquour in Brazil: Cachaca with a cedilla (cedilha) in the third 'c'. It IS an aquired taste.

The Steve Wynn years at The Mirage directors and above had a frig with any alcohol free drinks we wanted. On Steve. Euro spring waters in glass were the most common. I had officers check privileges at all restaurants for two. After hours cocktails included with meals. Typically the tip in a gourmet room was more than the price of a meal for 4 in a regular restaurant. I tended to not like playing at work and was to frugal, except on special occasions or with special guests, to drop $100-200 on a tip. Dinner, drinks, munchies, and desert for six at Kokomos was an ungodly tip but impressed the dinner club group. A long way from Lower Lumpa...

I am self-employed so it is pretty much whatever I choose (I am generally quite liberal with myself, of course) . In fact, I am also allowed to go for a ride during office hours when I feel like it.

The US Navy is a 'dry' navy. The only time we were allowed to drink onboard was after we had been in the north Arabian sea for more than 100 days straight, they sent out a shipment of beer by helicopter and each crew member was allowed two cans.

Needless to say, when Aussie and Kiwi ships would visit my ship's home port of Pearl Harbor, or tie up alongside us in a foreign port... there was always much jostling and comparing of seniority in order to determine who would be on the liaison team with the visiting ship. Being on the liaison team meant, among other things, going aboard the visiting ship and perhaps being hosted to a sampling of their excellent beverages.

Sounds awesome for a job to provide refreshments. I miss that in LA. Working at studios, there was always "craft services," a.k.a. a free and continually stocked snack bar. One studio I worked at had so many folks so obsessed with Red Bull that they started using some of the storage areas to keep pallets of the stuff, and someone even bought one of those retail mini display fridges (an official logoed one, no less). Hoo boy, was the producer pissed. Especially when a few people started trying to sneak the Red Bull logo into the show we were working on, and we got a cease-and-desist letter... ah, those were good times. 8)

I learned quickly in that particular industry that if you are not obsessed with Red Bull and Red Vines, you are quietly regarded as a freak. Made for amusing conversations.

At my current job, I'm lucky if they keep the toilet paper stocked.

My office building is surrounded by Google buildings, with their free cafeterias and free bikes and free everything. So to keep up with the Joneses, we've always had free coffee, two big fridges stocked with soft drinks, tea, water, two fridges stocked with fresh fruits and vegitables, and two more stocked with breakfast and lunch fixings. It turns out to not be as expensive as you'd think -- safeway had a deal where they keep it restocked (they come out twice a week) and give discounts on the produce, etc. Plus it keeps employees around during breakfast and lunch times, instead of going off for 2 hour lunches!

And our hardware group has a mini-fridge in the HW lab that they keep stocked with beer, or so I've heard...

Gotta love Silicon Valley! But even when I lived on the east coast, we always got free coffee. Providing free legal stimulants to your employees to improve productivity -- that's a no brainer... Why would a company NOT do that, seriously?
