Hi does anyone happen to know the weight of a PX200 (or even a PX150/125) engine?
I am trying to decide whether to include one as excess baggage on the return leg of a flight I am doing soon, but the max bag weight is 32 Kgs, I seem to recall them being about 30 Kgs, but I can't remember (or find anywhere) how close to 30Kg it really is - i.e. if it is 32 Kg then it is a not an option. Wha? emoticon

If you had to, you can pull off the flywheel and even clutch... (hub if you were intending to leave it on too) .... you could pull the top end off... my point is you may be able to hit the target weight (if it's not already under 32kg) by taking something off and putting that in another piece of luggage.

Thanks & I agree, but I am limited to one piece of excess baggage & I already will be carrying an exhaust, plus a load of other stuff in my main luggage, so not really any space there.
I can leave the hub & cowlings, plus a couple of minor bits but was hoping the main engine was under the 32 Kgs (including some packaging). On the plus side it does have an Aluminium top end which does shave off a bit of weight.

The aluminum does not shave off as much weight as you think. I've shipped two motors recently and they have both come up in their respective boxes as 85lbs with packaging materials. One had a Malossi and one had a Stock Cylinder.

Oh well - I guess that kills my idea of some cheap shipping from Europe then !
Back to the drawing board - Thanks for the responses anyway !!

Well I just weighed my Pinasco 177 including Sito+, flywheel and rear hub... was missing a couple of bits like flywheel shroud, stator and coil/lead. All up weighed 27.5kg. I weighed a similar exhaust by itself and that was 2.9kg. It does have an LML gear set in it which oddly enough is noticeably lighter than the Piaggio ones, can't remember what the actual difference was but not enough to put you over the limit anyway.

OOOO
Those Sito +'s are damned heavy considering they sound so tinny aren't they !?! That is the pipe that is going in my main bag - I do like them, but that is purely a personal thing and I don't want to fire up arguements over the best exhausts again !

I just remembered this is an LML case as well. I don't think there will be much difference but it's worth checking SIP, they have the (shipping) weight of each item listed.
Also buy a SIP road... no scraping and your neighbours will still like you!

As follow up to this - in case anyone else is ever interested.
A brand new stock Piaggio PX125 engine with electric start, autolube etc, including oil, but excluding exhaust weighs precisely 30.3Kg
