Modern Vespa

It's 787a dime clearing tool used to remove jammed coins in a payphone. It grabs onto the ridges on a dime or quarter.

So what's this for?

I had something very similar - can't for the life of me remember what it was for, perhaps opening the tabs on some bit of gear.

Looks like a paint can opener to me. At least, that's what I'd probably (incorrectly) use it as...

No, none of that.

It's quite thin and flexible. I don't think you can open more than one paint can with it. This one is made out of copper, but I'm sure I've seen some made out of zinc-plated steel.

What is a Slim Jim?

It's a flat spring steel device for unlocking cars from the outside - like a coat hanger on steroids.

Router case opener? Used to slide down alongside a car window to pull the lock open.

It looks a bit like the case openers for snap-together thing-y things.

And how would you know that (snicker)...

Uhm, well, I used to, uh, oh, I used to drive a towtruck. That's what it was, a towtruck.

My tool is for setting and removing cage nuts in a 19" rack for IT equipment.

Ah yes, now I remember! Though normally the Swiss Army knife was brought into play, as that was always at hand.

Well there you go. The audio rack gear that I work with doesn't have movable nuts, just sets of evenly spaced threaded holes for securing gear with screws. They work fine for computer gear too.

Handy tool to have for the type of fasteners you use on a daily basis.

I've seen IT racks with pre-tapped holes, and I've seen audio racks with open spaces for attaching nuts (though, admittedly, not as often as server ones). They're not completely foreign, but they're definitely more rare.

It looks like it was made to fit a cross handled tap, but that's not what it's for. In fact, water doesn't go well with what this tool is for.

That looks like it's for high pressure tank valves, but I'm not sure exactly what type.

Yep. It's an Altman Wrench. It is designed to fit all of the handles, bolts and nuts on Altman lighting fixtures. I use a more modern version now:

The new one is much easier to use than the old one, and incorporates more features.
