Where did you find a catalog? Online, or in print?

Re: Why no tachometer?

Vespa is a "premium" brand.
Have always wondered why no tachometer included or available as factory option?
Because it's a scooter.

I agree the Tach on my GTS250 is pretty much useless, although I LOVE the ambient temp gauge (not sure it's really accurate, but I like pretending it is).

However, there was ONE case where the tach came in handy. On my first ride in city traffic on a hot day, while waiting at a light my scooter started making this odd noise and shaking in a way it never had before. At first I thought the engine was revving really high, but by looking at the Tach (and blipping the throttle) I was able to tell that it wasn't the engine revving or making that noise. (Can you guess what the culprit was??)

So yeah, Tachs can be marginaly useful to tell you what your scoot is or isn't doing...

And we have a winner! Yep. I'd had the GTS for well over a year, riding every day pretty much, and that was the FIRST time the fan ever went on. Gotta love the cool Bay Area weather! The Tach helped me figure that out -- only real use I've gotten out of it.
