Cheap insurance, You wouldn't pore dirty oil back in a fresh oil change which is what you would be doing with what is left in the filter. Love your scooter treat it right and it will love you too.

Why would you put clean, clear, pure oil into a machine but not change the filter?

Thanks everyone, that's what I thought. I took it in for an oil change today and the dealer asked me if I wanted to change the filter. Why would he even ask? Thank God for this blog!
