Hi my MV Peeps!

I've added a new love to my stable. Riding Amerivespa at San Diego this year made me realize I needed one more vespa in my life. So both my lady and I can ride our own vespas together. This beautiful GT60 came up on craigslist for sale and it summoned me from my core so I jumped to get it. I got a friend to drive me to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles to get it. I rode it 100 miles home the first day.

Some of you may recognize this scooter. I didn't get the pleasure of meeting the woman who previously owned this GT60 because her mechanic sold it to me for her. I will honor her by loving it, riding it and keeping her 3 badges on the front. One is a badge for 20 years of riding with her club. Another she got from riding in Europe, maybe Italy? The other is her Santa Barbara club badge.

She put a GT60 top case on it as well as heated grips. I had to swap out the seat though. She had a modified corbin seat designed for shorter riders. I'm 5'6" and it wasn't comfortable for me. At some point I might try to locate the black GT60 seat but in the meantime I put on the seat I think is most comfortable & that has the most seating positions...the GT seat. The stars aligned because I found a black one on ebay and snatched it up....thanks Canada!

There is a Pirelli Diablo scooter tire on the rear but it has a Sava on the front. I now know what it is like to ride on a Sava and see what many of you have mentioned here on MV about those tires. I agree. THEY SUCK! The Sava catches the rain grooves here on LA freeways more so than any tire I've ridden on. And that includes various scooters, motorcycles and tires. So at some point I'll swap that front tire out too. I'll probably deal with it until the next service which will be a new belt and rollers. Unless it bothers me too much. But I think I can deal with it. It hasn't stopped my huge ass grin when riding it.

Questions for you MV peeps....which tire do you like better for the front? Pirelli Diablo? or Pirelli GTS? I know there are a lot of opinions on tires, but I find I like the Pirelli tires the best. So I'm curious between those two models, which you think is better?

Anyways, I'm in love with this GT60. And here are some pics. Cheers everyone!

Great photos of a great ride. Dump the Sava they're unsafe, IMO, after riding on them and following their record over 7 years here. A questionable wart on a princesses nose.

Wonderful post about a great addition to your life. Makes me want to recommend a GT 60 to my son in Olympia, WA.

Congrats!
I've been using a Diablo back with the GTS front (The Diablo fronts haven't made it to Canada) with no problems. If I could get the Diablo fronts I would go with that.

Congrats on your new scoot! I have found the Pirelli GTS tires all but stop the "wobble" and work well in the twistys. Inexpensive, too from Motorcycle Superstore.

Cheers,

Bob

The wrench at the local shop explained the Sava and rain grooves: They're too soft so comply with and follow the grooves.

Been using the Heidenau. Front currently has 12.5K miles on it. I ride on 280 in Silicon Valley which has rain grooves. They follow the rain grooves somewhat as well but not as bad as I understand that Sava's do. I guess I'm used to it and don't even notice it anymore.

<<<<<<<<<< Congrates on the GT60!! I'm obviously a fan.

Best
Miguel

Congrats on snagging that GT60. That is one I want to add to my garage, if only for the "limitedness" of them. Saw one for sale locally as well, I'm thinking about it.

p.s - It was an honor riding back with you and JackCoke from Amerivespa. It was nice to finally meet you, the owner of my GT 200's brother.
