Hi there,

I'm sorry to clog the feed with my issues.

I have recently got this px up and running and noticed that the back right indicator pretty much wont light up till I rev it up a bit. Then it comes on. Not as bright as the left indicator but better than when idling/Non existent.

As you can see in the video I have the indicator on the whole time but it doesn't light up till I give it some juice.

I have tested the wires coming from the stator that goto the CDI.

Green/white = 527

Red/white = 112

Not sure if those numbers help us.

The battery is brand new.

When I bought it there was no battery installed so I had to buy one.

I also replaced the CDI as it didn't spark.

Hello

Check the connection between the frame and the cowl and the connections to the lampholder, may just be dirty.

Hi there,

Thanks for the response.

I have given it a good clean around that area and sprayed some WD-40 also. But I will give it another good clean tomorrow so I can take that out of the equation.

My problems are never the easy ones to fix.

I noticed that the flasher light on the dash is also a bit erratic when using the right indicator but is strong on the left. Its just odd that the left rear one is about 25% brighter and is fine when idling. While the right side struggles so much.

Electrical fun awaits.

Cheers

I have swapped the bulbs around with the same issue.

I checked all bulbs and they were all corresponding so the front right was the same as the left. And so on.

Also noticed that when I give it gas the headlight does light up more as well. Which I think is pretty normal. Strange that the left side is perfect and the right side is sketchy.

Is there a way to test the voltage with a multi meter of what's coming out at the bulb.

I'm sure there is not enough power getting to that side of the bike.

Remove the cowl. Make some jumper wires, use battery jumper cables, or alligator clip test leads to connect to the battery. One wire to the grounding screw on the light, then touch the other to the tip of the cowl peg. The light should burn brightly. If not, start experimenting. It must pass this test before working properly on the scoot.

The light housing is not a good ground. The ground is typically a small metal strap that goes from the lamp base to one of the screws. The lamp socket often has a poor ground. Wiggle the bulb.

You haven't said whether the front right is also dim or not. This will give a clue as to where the problem is.

Hi

The front right is some what fine.

When I put the right indicator on the front right will light up and flash a bit inconsistently but it seems to be because of the rear one being so bad.

Hope that helps a bit.

Then your problem is, as others have said, either the earth connection (most likely), poor lamp contacts or poor connections on the wire from the JB to it.

HI thanks for the tips.

I'll investigate deeper at the grounding out problem tomorrow.

I have the front end off and I think I need a new fork spring.

So i'll hopefully be able to test it again tomorrow.

It passed that test with flying colors.

With the cowl installed, use the grounding cable from your test and ground the lamp assembly to a GOOD bare metal ground, or the negative terminal of the battery. If it blinks well then, what they said above. Start scratching paint and make a good ground.

If all else fails, a jumper to ground, with pull apart connecters may be used, but a little aggravating for cowl off/on.

Hi,

Just managed to put all the front end back together again and got it up and running so I could continue with this test.

So. I attached a video of the issue that has been resolved although still has complications.

I grinded some paint off on the inside of the cowl then put a washer on it and it seems to be good.

But I took it for a spin round the block then both rear indicators stopped working till I stopped it pulled the cowls off tested the lights, still good restarted it and they were back on. Took it for another spin and now the front left isn't working. No globes are blown.

Is there anything that can deteriorate and cause all this? Relay?

Cheers again
