You say you replaced the variator - what exactly did you replace?

And are you *sure* the belt was far into the clutch when you torqued up the variator nut?

What belt did you order? It may not be correct. Also, did you go lighter on the roller weights? Your symptoms sound like an incorrect belt or rollers.

update
Hi thanks for the replies

I bought a variator kit from weemoto in comprised new spring, rollers, varuator plate and housing.
Interestingly the bush which the belt sits on is about 1.5 cm shorter than the old one. That didnt work so I retained the old one.

Been to weemoto this am - confirmed the belt was the right one as I replaced that too....they now have a new kit from a different manufacturer on order so we shall see if that works.

Looks like the one they supplied originally had;

a spring that was too firm
light rollers,
wrong length bush.

(EFFECTIVELY useless)

Welcome to MV.

You can find a lot of good information in the Wiki Library.

Then you can also reach out as you have done so with your posting for help.

There are many who have ventured to DIY and worked thru their issues with the help of many MV'ers (myself included!). You have already received input from some well versed individuals.

Then you can reach out to specifically Scooterwest for advice on parts and advice.

Good Luck!

We appreciate the plug. It looks like he's on the other side of the pond and probably has easier sources to parts over there.
