I didn't see a thread on this, so I figured I'd throw out my solution. I just fit my Charger 220 exhaust on my P220, and wanted to retain the spare tire in its current location. Obviously, the left hand pipe prohibits the spare tire's space.

I solved it by buying a bunch of the M8x1.25 pitch spacer nuts that are used for the cylinder head's attaching to the cylinder shroud. I also bought some m8x25mm bolts to screw the spare onto the spacers. I threaded the spacer nuts all the way on the upper spare studs. I took a m8x25mm bolt and threaded it in backwards through the bottom spare tire captive nut. I then threaded a m8 spacer onto that bolt.

Mounted up clean and easy. When I mounted the spare, I did it with the wide side out, unlike when its normally fitted. Fits under the cowl without any problem and looks just like stock.

I like that.

I always thought that the balance of the bikes looks were off with a no spare left running pipe.

Yeah, I don't like not having a spare at the ready when I do highway commuting.

I'm still having a little clearance issue, because part of the spare will hit a little bit of the silencer on the way down. I attribute this to Pipe Designs using a fucking massive silencer. I'm going to try and shim a little more, but cowl room is just about done.

Worse comes to worse, I can compress the spare tire with a ratcheting strap at the bottom (where the clearance issue is). Flat spare + a little tire pump in the glovebox is better than no spare at all!

Had that problem with my micron pipe after i spaced out the exact same way as you did. Ended up spacing the exhaust bracket at one point but not the other so the can went at more of an angle. What's the pipe design bracket like?

What may help you is by making the bottom spacer a little longer than the top two, in effect pushing the the spare out where you have a bit more room at the bottom of the cowl. I did this with my PM pipe but not sure if yours is fatter plus I didn't have much of a cowl left to get in the way Razz emoticon

You hit it right on the head, D. I might have to grind a little bit off the side panel (that little lip at the bottom that curls inward) to give some more wiggle room.

p.s. that bike is balls out awesome. Fournales rear looks illmatic.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Yeah I had a lot of fun building and riding this, sunk a shit load of money into it too.
Here's how I dealt with a finished looking spare cover that hid a smaller lithium battery nicely and didn't look funky with the cowl on.
Pic was taken when I was running a JL rh before going to the PM lh pipe.

Just wanted to update this thread by saying that shimming the bottom bolt out gave me the clearance I needed to get away from hitting the silencer.

I used a M8x40mm (1.25 pitch) bolt on the bottom, plus 1/4" washers (cheaper than their metric counterparts in the States), and the spacer nut to accomplish it.

Can you post some pictures Travis?

Also, what is 'normal' as far as pitch is concerned? If you go to the hardware store and grab a pre-packed set of M8 bolts & nuts, what is that likely to be?

Common pitches for 8mm are 1mm and 1.25mm, so you'll need to look.

Reason why I have not yet posted pictures is that my phone is broken, but I'll get some!

Nice one Travis. Its further out than I had to get mine. Is the panel hard to get on?

That a pipedesign? Love the chunkyness of the end cans on them

Is it hard to get on? Takes my fucking leg holding it against the body whilst I use a hand to get the latch onto it.

Yes, it's a Pipe Design Charger 220.

Yeah when I had my one spaced out it took a fair bit of force to get it on. With it to carry a spare though. What's the bracket like on the charger? Is it quick to undo the pipe?

Takes a little effort, two allen wrench bolts. It's easier to just take the exhaust off via the exhaust bolt and springs in my experience.
