^^^ Damn, I think we coulda really stepped up our game there. Don't know a lot about those, but I'm sure it can't be
that hard to figure out if you brought one & we wanted to pep it up some, mod it, TUNE it! Get right into the guts and figure out
something special to try out...
Well anyway, we had a good klatch. Tried to rain hard and did rain some, but we are hard core. Pretty nice turnout with seven of us and one noshow w/ a last minute diversion, and Falcon even called in from work crying cuz he couldn't make it. We planned to repeat in 2 weeks, then 2 weeks later again w/ focus on parts swap. The main event tonite was the timing clinic put on by Brent Scheffler. Thanks again, Brent.
This was a great demo and we ALL learned the right way to do it, def the hit of the show. Followed closely by the 'winner, winner chicken dinner', super tasty fried chicken brought by Bubonic. (Hmmm, fried chicken brought by Bubonic????) Anyway so far, no symptoms or anything...
The first motor we timed was an LML on a motor stand so it was easier to watch. Then as a reward for chicken excellence, the timing was next checked on Bubonic's bike by 'students' Skott & Eric(B'nic & flyngti), with occasional oversight. The LML timing was OFF significantly & corrected(thought it was OK). B'nic's bike was found to be right on which he didn't expect.
Then we checked idle RPM on the B'nic bike & found that this tach shows the oscillations in RPM, swinging from 900 to 1400, so with 'overswinging' due to momentum, probably more like ~1050 to 1250 range, but def changing. Motor was running normally & audibly 'smooth' enuff.
Flyngti brought his disassembled horn for examination. He also surprised me by arriving on his immaculate elderly BMW(I can't say classic or vintage around here, right?). Neighbor Vespa rider & amateur machinist Dana finished up & brought the swiveling intake adapter prototype he and I have been working on for pre-unveiling. Have no idea yet if it'll work, we'll see soon.
As usual, Bubonic's bike barely was able limp all the way out here so Brent & I helped fix a few things to increase his odds of making it home sometime tonite.
A great time for me and I learned a lot, can't wait to do it again. Thanks guys.
PRECISION is our game...
not enuff pics of that ol' Beemer.
Adam's pristine but naughty Stella w/ the stolen Rally stripes is hiding a P200 motor . His original motor is our 1st timing test motor.
Skott's P200 looks great below. I heard the blue may be changed to something he likes better, but the bike's staying two tone.
I like it cuz it reminds me of Fang, my P200.
Brent has the tunedest bike here, with ALL the goodies! SIP Tubless & SIP Gauges & SIP shock, Boomstick, plus, plus, plus.
Bike
is damn ugly tho.
For now.
It's tight, it's straight, gonna be nice!
I luv that 'trunk' on Dana's bike
"No Skott, the flywheel goes on this side of the bike."
