Hello all
I remain completely overwhelmed by your responses - I know in time Nic will be too.......... I have no real news today but she is still waiting for surgery and is in a lot of pain. She can't speak much for obvious reasons. As soon as I have significant news, I will post again My fondest love to you all, Kitty x |

For all we know the events leading up to her crash were so complex and/or beyond a rider's control that the most experienced among us would have been powerless to avoid it. But I know that from my own experience, when a close friend first starts riding a scooter or motorcycle, I secretly wish I could magically help them skip over the newb stage and imbue them with all the experience and street smarts they need to stay safe. You know, the kind that can only come from countless hours in the saddle... day, night, rain, shine, highway, lonely twisties, group riding and alone... As I said, it would be pointless to rush to judgement about what caused the crash. All that really matters is that our friend is hurt, and I wish I could turn back the clock and warn her about whatever circumstances led her to where she is at the moment. Thoughts and prayers...

My wife and I are wishing cop-e-cat the speediest recovery and joy for her next scoot. These are the moments that bring out the best in people, and thank you MV for being such a supportive group. Positivity on the internet. There is something you just don't see often. Our thoughts are with you.

Here's an idea for the fund: how about replacing some of Cop-e-cat's gear when the time comes? She'll need a new helmet at least, and probably a few more bits and pieces depending on how the crash played out.

I'm with everyone else here in sending my best wishes. The one real advantage we have over past generations, the one technological advance that actually makes life better, is the the amazing medical care available to so many of us. A friend of mine was hit by a car (while walking) and sustained similar injuries as you described, and although it wasn't easy, she is fine and beautiful today.

future
As flowers aren't allowed at the Hospital were going to wait until Nicola is well enough to be an out patient at which point a substantial bouquet will be ordered from a local florist and what remains will hopefully make her recovery a little more bearable.
Thank you all so much. Bill X |

Catching up with this...
It has to rank as the saddest post I've read on MV. She is the first of my MV riding pals to get hurt, even though I met Nic only last week at the Trepp Dinner in London. We had a big welcome hug and hello and we talked briefly about how she was gradually gaining confidence as a new rider, and how much she loved the LX. She'd signed up to ride with a few of us for a few hundred mile weekend coast ride in Norfolk in 4 weeks time. She was excited about and thinking about racks and luggage. I was rooting for her because she'd been brave enough to do that as a novice rider joining more experienced riders, and was encouraging her not to worry, we'd all help her build her skills and riding experience when she came out with us. I'd replied to her MV posts about riding gear, helmets and waterproofs etc as she was learning about all this stuff new to her. Kitty was really in her corner helping her out as a great friend, describing Nic as 'the pretty one'. So all that said its very sad she's had such a terrible off so early in her riding, and suffered nasty and painful facial injuries. I hope the medics can work the magic they do, and she bounces back in her own time. My dearest hope is she gets back in the saddle and rides with us soon like we talked about, and that smile of hers on the photo on the first page of this thread is right back where it should be as soon as it can be. Bill, a donation to the fund is on its way in a minute...

Hello you lot
A very quick update - Nic still waiting to be nice and stable before they do anything with the fractures I have a couple of tiny favour to ask please? Please don't ask about cause of accident on thread as its not known. She can't recall anything but that's not unusual with head injury. And she will in time read this thread. Re: riding again... Until she mentions anything when she's well, it's off limits.... But one thing I will reinforce My respect and fondness for you all And all you have done and said on here. Loves ye x
