Hey Keith,
I was with a couple of your Buds at Marietta Vespa/Sports Car last Fri (Floyd & John). John did all the LED wiring on the Lite Kits on my Givi Boxes as well as the wiring on my air-horn a while back. This was after Chad at Shop 102 did all the metal fab work for the side cases & 2X2 bike rack... Anyways, We had the new 500 & my 500 side by side taking measurements for various things (front rims & fenders to see if I can up grade, etc). We couldn't see where the side case racks could be mounted with the new body style of the 500. But, if anyone could do it, it would be Chad Pecchi @ Shop 102. Chad loves a challenge. If he hasn't moved his shop, (John said he was considering a new location) it is very close to Marietta Vespa. The side case racks are as strong as the frame. The cases themselves are hard plastic & would more than likely pop out of the mounts if the sled hit the ground hard. Another guy that is good with moto fab work is Ben Bole @ Bender Works. You have to be careful cuz when I first got the cases I had to keep telling myself I got a lot more width in the back. I have rubbed a trash can, a wooden gate and a metal poll while trying to squeeze in some tight spots at idle speed... I saw a foreign company on the web that use to make a set of side case racks for the 500 (can't remember the name or site). I could be wrong, but it looks like the make a some stylish chrome body rails for the new 500 for protection in case of a spill. I like the new 500 but I wish they would of kept some of the exposed steel tubing on the thing. Most people like to accessorize and the tubing makes it easy for the after market companies to build cool stuff...
Oh, I remember your Bike being in the Shop...
Seen it there when the LED's were being done, OK...
John's a good guy, very thorough in what he does.
Yea the bike has some differences on the Body that don't quite match up with the older one... Glad you were able to look at them side by side.
They didn't make it any easier to work on, still have to peal the Banana to get to some things as before.
