Since we're talking differences between the 250, 400, and 500...does anyone know if the inside diameter of our handle grips are the same size or not?? I have a set of Throttlemeister throttle locks and also HVMP brand extra heavy weight vibration dampening barends for sale that were used on my 250. Info would be appreciated.
yes they are the standard 7/8" bars on all MP3's, also the throttlemeister will work with a bunch of other m/c's too. put them up on ebay or in the for sale section here.

Re: not saddlebag related but a fitment question
Thanks OAD; I'm pulling together my remaining accessories and paperwork to see what is usable and for resale. I've got Hippo Hand muffs if anyone is interested; fitment is for all MP3s and some other scoot models too.

leighfoti,
Very nice setup. Can you give more detailed instructions on how this was done? This was a custom built rig by a company called Shop 103?

Sorry it was Chad at Shop 102 (I typed 103). He was on the Discover Ch (biker build off TV Show, I think)...

http://www.shop102moto.com

I bought the cases and brackets (BMW-650) and Chad fabricated the rest...

note: This MP3 has a 2x2 cycles bike carrying rack on it... The Givi Top Case fits over the rack when not in use to carry a bike... Chad fabricated the top case rack/bracket to be fitted on top of the 2x2 bike rack (as well).

Next Project: I'm having Ben @ Bender Works fabricate some small "S" & "Z" shaped brackets. I'm putting tube shaped Fuel canister racks (from twisted throttle) on both inter sides of the sides cases between the top rack & side cases...

Do they fit the New MP3/500 Sport in the US?
The Mounting Point on the Hand Rail may not work unless the bolt position is the same.

Can you comment if they can protect the bike it it were laid down on its side say from losing balance at a Street Light, as an example. Or is it more Cosmetic Look.

Thanks,

Keith

Hey Keith,
I was with a couple of your Buds at Marietta Vespa/Sports Car last Fri (Floyd & John). John did all the LED wiring on the Lite Kits on my Givi Boxes as well as the wiring on my air-horn a while back. This was after Chad at Shop 102 did all the metal fab work for the side cases & 2X2 bike rack... Anyways, We had the new 500 & my 500 side by side taking measurements for various things (front rims & fenders to see if I can up grade, etc). We couldn't see where the side case racks could be mounted with the new body style of the 500. But, if anyone could do it, it would be Chad Pecchi @ Shop 102. Chad loves a challenge. If he hasn't moved his shop, (John said he was considering a new location) it is very close to Marietta Vespa. The side case racks are as strong as the frame. The cases themselves are hard plastic & would more than likely pop out of the mounts if the sled hit the ground hard. Another guy that is good with moto fab work is Ben Bole @ Bender Works. You have to be careful cuz when I first got the cases I had to keep telling myself I got a lot more width in the back. I have rubbed a trash can, a wooden gate and a metal poll while trying to squeeze in some tight spots at idle speed... I saw a foreign company on the web that use to make a set of side case racks for the 500 (can't remember the name or site). I could be wrong, but it looks like the make a some stylish chrome body rails for the new 500 for protection in case of a spill. I like the new 500 but I wish they would of kept some of the exposed steel tubing on the thing. Most people like to accessorize and the tubing makes it easy for the after market companies to build cool stuff...

Oh, I remember your Bike being in the Shop...
Seen it there when the LED's were being done, OK...
John's a good guy, very thorough in what he does.

Yea the bike has some differences on the Body that don't quite match up with the older one... Glad you were able to look at them side by side.
They didn't make it any easier to work on, still have to peal the Banana to get to some things as before.

OAD, hard to do that on a New Bike after spending so much money.
Easy sell for me when it just Fits.

One thing I noticed, many of the older Mods are not required.
It's basically built into the base bike now, depending on what you need.
