Make your own plug installation tool and this job go's really fast.

After spending 15 min. making this tool it took me less that 5 min to install 8 pre-painted side reflector plugs

Pick a dowl about twice the size of the plug.

The dowl needs to be at least 6" long. 10" would be better

Drill a little domed hole on the end of the dole. So your not going very deep just enough to match the dome of the plug.

Take the dowl out to the street and scrap it on the sidewalk until the extra material around your little drilled dome is removed. Or sand it if you have a fancy shop. Hell whittle it down if you live in the South...

Now take the plug that you painted the day before and center it on your plug tool. Evenly press the plug into place. Use your fingers as a guide.

Special thanks to SF Vespa for the touch up paint. I will donate this amazing tool called the "Lucky Plugger" to T-Bone at SF Vespa.

The wood of the dowl with the even pressure will not hurt your paint!
Slow and steady and you will have a plug installed in less than 30 sec.

Greasy says to put a little Glue on the inside to keep them in place. I was only able to get to get glue to 4 plugs. I put the glue on after installation if they don't hold next time i will put a little glue on the plugs then wipe off the extra right away.

Hope this helps some of you MV'ers out their.

Sorry the pictures are in reverse order.

glad that we don't have to bother about this process over here.
But if we did,I'd take comfort in the fact that I have the same "bastard shoes" as Lucky....

I'm going to be putting in some plugs on the front fender, after installing a chrome fender guard. Are they really that hard to get in that you need some kind of tool to do it? Or will the "alternate tool", my bare hands and fingers, suffice? Don't want to break a nail or anything!

No worries on the nails - you just might need to ream the holes a wee bit larger. Check this thread out:

Those holes left from the reflectors must come in different sizes. I got the plugs in with no problem at all, with just a gentle push. And no, I didn't break any nails!

I used my fingers, but a Lucky tool would probably have been a lot easier. Maybe you should patent it.
