will a M22 washer work. 23mm inter d x 39mm od x 3mm thick. found it at fastenal.com

      Fuzzy washer optimal dimensions are an outside diameter of 36mm and an inside diameter of 22.05mm. Member BubbaJon may still have some for sale.

      3mm thickness is WAY too thick.
      Normally for this application an additional ~1mm is sufficient.

      That will work as long as it's actually 3mm. Make sure the washer is centered if the inner diameter is larger.
      Otherwise PM me - the original Fuzzy Washer is a machined part - not stamped as is a regular washer. I have a very few left.

      Hate ask a dumb question here and I will say I only happened on this somewhat by mistake on ModernVespa.

      What is a fuzzy washer? I spent 40+ years working as a heavy equipment on all kinds of different machines and never came across that term.

It did work to a point but also brought a few other issues like belt rubbing and such. We opined the French engineers must have settled on that 1mm extra for good reason. I had a buddy in a machine shop so we all chipped in and had the first batch of Fuzzy Washers machined. They were named after Fuzzy because he had the balls to risk his scooter for science.
      The few Fuzzy Washers I have remaining are from batch #3 which I paid for. I won't be ordering any more because they now have a minimum order amount and a setup fee.

      Yo can fettle the washer a bit by using a ceramic tile of a piece of glass as backing and some super fine emery paper to ensure the washer is constant thickness.

      Thanks for humoring me on this question! I was trying to understand what was "fuzzy" about a washer, now it all makes sense!

      I just used a shim bought on eBay, works fine.
      22mm Id important, od should be similar and 1mm thickness is perfect, gives just the right revs.
