Well we had the 946 for 25 days in November and now the month is over. The 946 took over as our top seller by a large margin, pretty stunning fact actually. Had a referral come in today to purchase a GTS, he switched himself to a 946, it appears the 946 speaks for itself.

Well done Piaggio, stunning in fact.

Hard to argue....
with those figures.

Just goes to prove that once in awhile certain products have that X-factor which defies normal purchasing "logic".

A $9946.-- 150?

X-factor....magic.

Great!! I hope some of the design features carry over into the next gen 300/350, I think they will sell even better and I'd buy one for sure.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this. Only a single-seat 150 for that much? It is a cool look for a scooter, but I'd like to see a 250+ in it.

Yeah "normal" purchasing logic goes out the window when you have a high proportion of customers in the upper income ranges.

My local dealer did not order one. I presume he thought it would be a difficult sell. He also received no advance orders. Sounds like it depends on the market - and perhaps the willingness of the dealer to go out on a limb.

As they say: "A fool and their money..."

Yes, it's pretty and Vespa makes a great product, but at the end of the day you are paying $10,000 for a 150cc scooter. And Vespa will simply use this to justify raising prices on the base model bikes on up.

Well that pretty much breaks the camels back for me. I do a lot around MV to help and gladly pay a sponsorship fee to support Jess and company.

Having said that if by reporting the facts in my original post it is rated negative by a bunch of shallow and anonymous haters I'm not going to post on MV anymore.

WTF was wrong with stating a 100% accurate market report to help enlighten the members, I guess you would rather see a picture of the crate and hope the dealers choke on their 946s, that's a sad state of affairs.

Happy Holidays and be well to the rest.

David,

I can't believe people put a negative on your post. Personally, the 946 is not the scooter for me, but I can appreciate the design and am happy that it has been a success for you and Vespa. I hope some of the design elements make their way into the next generation of modern Vespa.

I can understand people giving negative feedback for someone being an jerk, but negative feedback for celebrating a sales success is just beyond ridiculous! I have given you a thumbs up! Hopefully the thoughtful majority on this site can do likewise and drown out the negative input from people who are too ignorant to be able to realise that having a different opinion on a scooter is not something to be a asshole about.

Cheers,

Chris

Absolutely.
If ever there was a part of the world where a limited edition "exclusive" could be sold for more than twice the price of an equally capable standard scooter, this is it.

Still good work to shift them, but I doubt you'd have done so well elsewhere.

My local London dealer hasn't sold any yet and there has been a white one in the window since release date. London definitely isn't the neighbourhood for one....

Re: Stunning month-end 946 sales fact
Was talking to the Piaggio importer in Jakarta today - the 51 x 946's that were released & have now arrived in Jakarta took just 3 weeks to sell.
I was told a few more might arrive if sales for the 946 in Europe are slow but somehow I doubt it. For sure the price for the 946 here in Jakarta will increase, I have already heard of one changing hands for Rp180 million, thats just over $16000 or GBP10,000.00.

Why? They are shallow and anonymous - you are neither. Forget about your karma rating and realize that what you bring to this online scooter community (not to mention the real scooter enthusiasts you personally take care of at your shop) FAR outweighs any douchebaggery the negativos bring to the table. It would be a true shame if you chose to self-limit your participation here rather than marginalize their ability to affect your day-to-day enjoyment of the online component of your hobby and livelihood by simply ignoring them.

Don't let a few chase you away, it's just the internet. If anybody were to walk into VSO and carry on a conversation with you, Lynda, or anybody else at the shop they would know that you are the good guys and want only the best for your customers.

I hope you sell a ton of them, as they are beautiful machines!

It'd be great if the forum showed the names of the yeas or nays. Bring more transparency to the system. I've been voted down by someone for calling them out when they weren't following forum rules.

Me too.
At the moment, Piaggio can't sell me another scooter. If my GTS was stolen today I wouldn't buy another the same as I don't do repeat purchases of any vehicle, and there's nothing else they do to tempt me. I'd buy another motorbike I think.

Give me a new body style and the BV350 engine and I'll possibly be a day 1 customer.

Actually, I like the way the karma system on MV functions. We occasionally get tasteless posts here, and sometimes have a dick member or two. We also have really standup members like David. And look at his karma rating as well as the positives for this post. Seems like the system works to me.

Turns out as usual MV is like a superhero, with good winning out over evil, again.

Maybe an animator can create a new Jess superhero action figure.

Thanks for the kind words all, feeling better.

Good people had to go fix a wrong.. it would be much better to see the neg karma givers user name next to his rating. that would stop lots of bad ratings that are giving for no reason. I was not going to rate the OP but when I seen the neg Karma giving I had to do my best to null it out. again I've seen some very helpful post get no rating and some very bad post get a shit ton of good karma.. but your right it works to ban asshats
