Hello folks

Just taken delivery of a vespa ciao which is a non runner at the moment. Do you think the tank will need sealing ? What else do I need to do to get it up and running. I know it needs a chain and a exhaust and a new belt. Do I need to take the clutch off to drop the engine ? Lots of questions I know, but if you don't ask you don't get.

Thanks for any help

Congrats...
The best website for help is

http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/list.php?6

This site is for larger scooters, not mopeds.

You'll find everything you need to know there. People are selling parts for these as well.

Yes you need to take the variator off the engine to remove engine.
Hard to say if the tank needs cleaning or sealing without seeing.

Best of luck!

Is it a vespa ciao or a piaggio ciao? I have nothing against mopeds. Kinda fun to see how much power you can get out of 50cc's. Design wise the ciao just doesn't have the design clues like the large or even small frame vespa's. I don't want to say I have a thing for 'large' scooters thou. This sounds like a sick fetish. I don't want to find myself in the adult scooter shop in the back corner looking at pics of striped down bbs's (big beautiful scooters).
