Has anyone used a European style tail light on a P200E with a BBQ rack? How do you do it. I've never seen a European one in person. Only in pictures. Doesn't it interfere with the rack mount bracket? I was thinking of making spacer pads out of rubber, nylon or somesuch the same thickness as the bracket and use longer screws to mount the light assembly. Will this work? Is there a better way? Should I just stick with my tractor light?

Thanks

Your two choices would be to raise the location of the Euro light assembly so the bracket can go below it. Or you can cut into the lens to make it so the bracket can fit between the lens and the frame.

ive fitted one with the normal taillight and it was a bastard to get it to fit with the light on, i had to take the light off and jiggle it about but i was drunk and cant remember much else

then once i had the holes drilled for the rack it went off or on easy enough

Nice deal that you didn't have holes strewn across the back of your bike after the drinking session. That would have been my lesson I think.

Oh.

Then wouldn't the P200E have similar holes to your '85?

Just wondering.....

Probably showing my P/PX ignorance here. Oh well. I figured Oz has the European taillights, and what you did to get the BBQ rack on your '85 PX would not be too different to the P200E set up being asked about, which now that I read back a bit is probably exactly what you were saying. Maybe I should not have got involved in this after just waking up (to another grey day in Surrey).

It is what SFvsr said. My 79 P200e came with the Euro style taillight when I purchased it and I finally got to replace it with the tractor light.

The tractor light fits lower thus giving you the room to install the BBQ rack without any fitment issue.

On the other hand, the PX 150 all comes with the Euro style so what I did, I drilled the whole between the red lens and the silver housing thus you can't even see the whole or bolts. I ended up lowering the support arms that hold the BBQ you can see the different angle when compared to the P200.

It definitely can be done and is worth the try.

My PX has the euro taillight and the BBQ rack was already installed. It has some extensions on the mount to clear the light. It angles the rack a little but not to bad. However it does act like a hindge when I need to pull the rack to get at the gas tank making it fairly easy to remove then reaffix over and over.
