A perspective you don't see everyday. Pilots. At about the 2 minute mark flames or sparks appear briefly. Any ideas? Looks like they might originate from the right wing. Maybe they were added during editing?

My guess on the sparks would be that this airplane still had an active "flair" system to use for shows. Basically they were super hot flairs that would be thrown out when the enemy fired a missile. Hopefully the flairs would confuse heat seeking missiles and cause them to miss. But that is just my guess.

I should have guessed that. I used to do ground control for fighters in the air force but I always imagined the countermeasure flares dropping out of the bottom rear of the aircraft. Apparently they can go in a variety of directions.
