Anyone have any bright ideas here? Several months ago, something very annoying happened to my ignition key. It "broke". More specifically, the hole that you use to put it on your keychain "lost its integrity", so it will no longer stay on my keychain. (Guess I'm lucky I didn't lose the rest of my keys!) I would like to get a new key, obv. I still have the broken key, of course, and have my "red" key as well.

I sent a message to Vespa USA, they said to "go to my dealer". The problem is that I do not have a Vespa dealer in my immediate vicinity. I sent a message to the nearest one, hoping we could work something out through the mail or something, but they chose not to respond. Any ideas? I guess I could try to fix the key with Krazy Glue or something, but I'm not sure I'd ever trust it, and would be afraid that I WOULD lose the rest of my keys next time...

TIA

Options:

1)Order an original blank

http://www.scooterwest.com/items/?_pageCCS=t#page=/item_details/Key-Blank-Vespa--ET4-LX150-GT-GTS-More/2605

have it cut locally. Any locksmith who can cut European keys can do it.

2) You say you have the broken key. Does it still start the scoot? i.e. the chip in the key still allows it to start? If so send that one to Jimh

14perry, after reading your sig, I had to post a link to this picture. I did not win the Yamahopper, sadly, and was bitter for thirty years till I bought my Vespa. https://picasaweb.google.com/104604999498688727302/Scans#5683390318472647778

Check this Joe

My Dad and I had a red one and a blue one. I rode that blue one everywhere. I really miss how simple things were back then. Did my M1 test on it. Rode it home and went for a ride on the Goldwing.

Yammahoppers are cool. The best scooter rental shop in our island started out renting them years ago. He would deliver them to your hotel by placing it across the floorboard of his PX200!

jimh, Hello. I visited the link and if I understand correctly, you clone keys even though the red one is unavailable. Did I get this right?

Ahem, my red key is gone. One of my regular blue ones has had it, doesn't work. My regular blue one only works if I put it in with the hole for a chain is pointing upwards.

Can you help me with this also?

Greetings.
