Modern Vespa

Hello there,
I have always visited the forum as a tourist, and today I decided to join and be part of it!
I have made a couple of trips across the states and Canada(Montreal, QC to Key West, FL -roundtrip 7300km- in 2010), Montreal, QC to New Orleans, LU then California and up to British Columbia 9600km in 2013 and then Vancouver, BC to Los Angeles, CA 3200km last fall and now...we are heading all the way to Argentina!

I left my job, my house and everything, convinced the GF to do the same and now we are on the go (it was easy since we didn't have much), our tent will become our house! and we are very exited about it!

Our plan is to leave Los angeles by the first week of January and now we are in the process of getting our steel horse in shape for such a journey.

We are looking for a spare wheel and a medium size windshield second hand and good shape for sale anybody????

Welcome to the forum Juanete! That sounds like quite an adventure. You might try the Vespa shop in Sherman Oaks and see what they have. Here is the link to their website- http://www.vespaso.com/ You could also try the local craigslist site. Post an introduction in the General Discussion section of this site and see if anyone in the area can help you out. Have fun on your adventure and be safe. Keep us posted on the trip.

There is a guy on Youtube that is doing a trip from Peru to Alaska in a VW bus you might want to take a look

there is a link to some of his stuff. He is on the samba page with tons of issue getting things fixed. You may what to do some real planning on who to fix things while your on the road. I think in some of these locations it might be a serious issue.

afishynado, once I hit central America I will start writing reports and posted pics (Thinking about making a blog, but at the same time, I don't know how much internet connection I will have) we will see!

I saw a couple of his videos, and it is very inspiring!!!thank you for sharing...yes the potential mechanic issues are a concern but I guess I will be figuring out how to approach them on the go. I might try to contact some places in the usa beforehand to ask for eventual assistance, (send parts, tires, advice, etc.)

Hachi, thank you for the advise, I actually just got the parts from e-bay at decent prices. I still need to change the suspension and check the transmission witch is giving me some issues, I guess I will try to contact the vespa shop in sherman oaks or scooterwest...

thank you guys for your support!!! our due day is getting closer and we are very exited about it, we had a couple of things to finish in Vancouver and had to flight back but now, we got our train ticket from Seattle to LA on January 6th to pick up the vespa, change shocks, tires and fix the transmission. We are ready to go!

and yes Turkman, we are doing it 2-up!!! an extra challenge I guess.

Some of the folks from Vespa Motorsport recently hosted a couple riding 2 up on a GTS. Was that you?

They escorted the adventurous couple down to Mexico and I was so disappointed that I couldn't join in.

In any case, I hope you are having the time of your life!

Looks like its going to be fun! Do you have a blog or something where I could see some photos from your older trips?

Hello guys, thank you all for your support!
We are in Cabo del este, baja California sur right now, volunteering in a goat farm for 1 month, the trip is been amazing, beautiful places, food and people!!!

ks7877: Yes we were the ones in San Diego, Jeff hosted us, and helped us getting the scooter in shape for the trip...then we traveled together with Vespa motorsport crew into Mexico, going around "el valle de guadalupe" for a weekend, we had an amazing time with all of them!

We open a facebook page where we will put some pictures: survespa on Facebook

we are not connected very much on the internet but as soon as we can we will upload the page, if anybody is doing a trip like this one and need any information, just ask!

I thought I saw you down here not to long ago. I saw a red gts parked on the malecon in La Paz. It's cool when you see a fellow vespian in a world full of italicas. Hope all is well and may the journey be twisty and safe.

Hello Jaime, yes we were in la paz a month ago, then we traveled on the east cape road, and now we are back in La Paz, thinking about crossing the gulf sometime soon, so far, southern baja is been the best place we have been on this trip!
