Hi guys,
I have recently bought my lovely Et4 125 pre leader
Just took the battery out to give it a charge and noticed a pipe floating around... It runs from near the battery compartment, along the side panel and dangles out at the bottom of the bike. Looks like it should be an over flow or something.

Can anyone please shed some light on this mystery... I am not technical please assume very basic knowledge... I am learning lol

I'm pretty sure that is your battery compartment drain pipe. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd agree with that. You should see a spot on the battery itself to connect it to. It is supposed to be a pressure relief for the battery, and direct any runoff away from expensive bits that could be corroded...

Battery drain tube for old-style 'wet-cell' batteries. If you have a more modern 'maintenance-free' battery then it's irrelevant.

Thanks guys,
You have helped solve this mystery for me
I have the old style battery so will get this attached now... Does anyone know... If I replace my battery for a new modern one will this rectify the problem on the lights going dim during idling?
Ps here she is...

Probably not. The lights work off regulated AC, which is only available with the engine running. At idle it in't running fast enough to produce enough current to satisfy the lights and the rest of the bike (DC feed to the battery, CDI etc), so the voltage drops below the regulator's set o/p. It's 'part of the charm'.

However the old battery may be so knackered that it draws more current when charging than a new one might, and in this case (and only if so) the lights might not dim so much. They will still dim a bit though, nothing to be done about that apart from a re-hash of the electrics, which is hardly worthwhile.

Motobatt is a good one. Always thought it was a strange hose, still is since it's still there. Did you get a look at where it drains to? Wha? emoticon Wha? emoticon Right back near the tires and other essential bits.
