That lock will be removed altogether and replaced... Wiring is left in there for now to make it easier to replace

Colour will be giallo arancio

I guess he wants to keep the wiring in there until he pulls it out and replaces like for like?Makes sense.

Picked up all the parts from the sand blasters today... And dropped off my engine and rim pieces to the hydro blasters as well... Won't get the parts back from the hydro blasters back until after the new year though

Was supposed to drop off the frame cowls etc to the panel beater/painter today but he was too busy to take them which sucked said he won't be able to even touch my job for at least three months... There goes this seasons riding

Although vespas are monocoque, there is nothing difficult about panel beating a vespa with the usual shallow dents that isnt wrinkled. If its only the usual dings in the panels then any half decent panel beater could do the whole lot, without (much) bogging in a few hours.
If the frame is dinged in an area where it requires a slide hammer thats a different story but again, it just needs a little careful weld to seal the hole, fairly standard easy work. Most decent shops have long reach hammers to do the stuff blocked by ribbing. I mostly do my own but if i were to hand it over, an old boy would have it sorted with some careful filing and hammer work pretty quick.

The old boys like these as they are easy to work on, use real steel and are a rewarding job. The curves arent too unforgiving. Dont stress about sending it to Australias best custom restorer, shop around a bit more and ask if the guys can do it with a little or no bog. you maybe surprised.

Check out restolad on youtube for some inspiration

Happy restoring.

Mine took 5 months to have all the welding done,But I knew the welder was very good so I waited. I did consider having it done elsewhere but wasn't going to risk it.

Who did you use Chris? My GTR will need a new floor pan/footboard next year and I don't want to try my hand at this ('a man's gotta know his limitations'!). I'd feel more comfortable knowing it was going into the hands of someone with good scooter experience. There are a few places I know of in London but its only a couple of hours for me to get over to your way too.

Nah not going to risk giving it to someone else... This guy was recommended to me by probably the most experienced vespa mechanic in Australia and I trust his judgment

His work is supposed to be the bees knees so I'm happy to wait for quality

I recommend taking a bunch of pictures and then dumping them in the thread all out of order, blown-out and totally out of focus. It worked for that other guy.

Rally is looking good!

Yikes.

Just noticed you put the rails on before you put the rear brake pedal on.
