That is a very original looking scoot. It's only original once...leave it 100% as-is cosmetically, take some time to go through it mechanically to ensure all seems up to snuff, then put a few thousand miles on it. Sweet ride.

You dopes. That is a 150 Super Cruisaire.

That looks like a nearly $3,000 scooter. Beautiful, really.

How can you tell, and what makes a Cruisare a Cruisare?

It reminds me of the Sprint that a dick guy from Melbourne had here a while back... it looked mint and yet he was going to strip it. Everyone told him to keep it as it is but nobody was going to tell HIM what to do with his own damn property... he even said that he was going to throw stripper at it and post it on youtube. Thread got locked.

Anyway your one (looks great btw!) reminded me of his, here's a pic I found of it from last month.

Hey Ginch, my introduction to scooting (many moons ago in my teen years) was always Lambretta, Lambretta, Lambretta so I'm not that familiar with pre P/PX series Vespas. The trapezoidal headlight on dick guys bike reminded me there was one Vespa that turned my head at the time though, the SS180.

Never understood why it doesn't now seem to be held in as high esteem as, for example, the Rally 180/200 or the Sprint.

Hi Ginch,
The little knowledge I have of cruisaire is that early one (from 1951 to 1965)were strip down Vespas made for Sears and later ones (from 165 to1967) were re badged Vespas.

I thought all Allstates didn't have a shocker? I was wondering if the Cruisare had additional features or was sort of the next model up?

No crusaire just a fancy marketing
Name it made no difference just stripped down wide frames and large frames.
This (been a later one 1966) would be just a 150cc large frame missing the Vespa badge
Just as beautiful without it

Check if they're the Allstate brand tires (big Allstate logo) before you chuck them. Someone might want them for a show piece.

My BlueBadge didn't come with them, but you never know...

It was on ebay for $1,200 two days ago. Tried to get my club to buy it but they said it was too much for our budget.

Seriously good looking original bike! Got a pic from the other side? I dunno for sure, but if it doesn't have a shock on the front suspension, you might consider replacing the fork with one that does when you get a chance.

I love Sprints and these silver ones from Sears are fantastic....good thing I know a barn where one is (along with 100+ other scoots) with similar miles but that's been resprayed! Simple clean up job with some spray paint removal. When I get some cash together I'm headed to this hoarder dudes house to get some scoots. He's got close to 100 of them in an airplane hangar, along with his Piper Cub. He's got one of those French made handlebar scoots as well along with 4 complete Gs's, a GS frame I want and many many P's, VBB's, allstates, Bajaj, all dat.

Patientience & Keep your tires with all the original ki
I am totally new here and to Vespas. I bought what I was told later, was a scooter that could be museum grade what ever that is. Unlike yours it sat for over 3 decades. Yours runs great. That is an excellent advantage. Learn as much as you can about these machines. These bikes especially the older ones will need some good wrench time. They are very easy and fun for some of us to work on. Join Vespa clubs.

Insure it. www.hagerty.com/‎ I like their road side assistance package.

Is this your first Motorcycle? Score a good quality reinforced jacket, gloves etc. Take a motorcycle class.

Figure out what it is - its history. Fix critical parts - I am amazed its running. What is its history? If you sell your scooter some day to a fanatic, having all the original parts is a huge plus and likely a higher price. It just makes the Vespa's story more detailed. Print out and save the ebay listing. no shit - I know . With any luck you will become more addicted each time your ride.

Check out a few Vespa shops - and have a hell of a great time. Beautiful bike.

The SS180 is the last of the piston ported Vespas. I've never heard
that it wasn't held in high esteem. I know in the states it is.
