I think we are going to baby blue and white an chrome. I want the wife to do baby blue and white with some orange. Kinda like the Ford gt40 colors and Porsches of the vintage in the gulf race trim

My brother is a body man and painter by trade, so we will do this on our own. I'm hoping to do a higher end restore

Should be fun.

We are doing the DMR177 kit and a total rebuild. Crank was junk, so pictured is a hot rod AL crank which I'd like, but since its the wife's prob a stock OE replacement. This will also have the chamber exhaust and some tweaking.

The exhaust was used, but for a very short time. I think I am going to redo the black and high polish the tip to look like chrome.

Well, I can tell you my VBB gets noticed because of the color. Is not the original VBB color but the VNB (125 CC) color for the same year. It was a choice made because it was easy to find and reproduce the VNB color (Grigio Celeste Chiaro; MaxMeyer 1,298,8840) rather than the VBB (Azzurro metallizato) but, in the end, I like it and it reflects a color of that period.
From a million responses ago - here is a bike I had once that I painted inspired off of a Azzurro Metallizato color but with a bit of fine grain metal flake. I am giving a GS I am putting together some accents off the GS white in something very similar to this. Grimstead style.

The VBB was sold to a crazy Italian who has been shredding all over town on it and ridden out to Santa Cruz a couple times. I miss it. The engine still sounds royal.

I don't know if you have purchased your kit yet, but I strongly recommend going with a Pinasco 177 (a third port through the piston) and SIP Road pipe with that set up. Going to a larger carb = bonus. I ran that setup and loved it. The gearing on the VBB is the only hangup if you are going to burn some freeway miles. I know you can swap that out though. I just never did as most of the riding I did on this bike was SF city riding, which happens to include a lot of steep grade. For that it ruled.

I was also going to ask about the cases, since I've got my nasty Stella cases to clean right now, but Vader beat me to it.

I never thought of steel wool. I'd have assumed it would scuff things up too much. a scotch-brite or other synthetic pad is probably a better option.

I run the Pinasco 177 on my VBB, only 2 ports, though. With a 24/24 and a prima pipe it pulls hard enough I have to hold onto the grips instead of keeping a couple fingers on the clutch when accelerating hard. Problem was that the pipe kept grounding out, so I took that off, but still not too bad for sixty-year-old technology.

I got this for Christmas. It's not a Vespa, I know, but it has only covered 750km so far yet cruises at 55mph at half throttle or less. I strongly recommend!

Yes, We already got the kit, crank, and I already have the pipe, so Ill make it work. I am also going to go with the 24mm carb when i get the extra cash. but he is doing the port work for it now and so on, so it will be on on, when the motor starts for the first time..

This wont see the highway I am sure. But alot of street miles, the wife will ride this all over, and the low gearing will be great for our hills and express way..

Congratulations!
I think the metallic pink on the car is awesome and would look great on your scooter! Totally different.
