Hi all,
So we had a bit of a cold snap here this week and on Thursday the roads were very icy. I didn't realise until it was too late when I skidded on some ice coming up to a traffic light and came of the scooter. I was close to home so I rode it back slowly and noticed that the handlebars seem to point slightly to the right when I was going in a straight line. I gave it another test ride in the afternoon when the ice had cleared and noticed when I applied the breaks the whole scooter seemed to almost fishtail (kind of like how it did on the ice) the break levers also seemed pretty loose. I know the wonky steering alignment is probably due to a twisted steering column but I'm not sure what I've done to the breaks. Apart from that it's just lots of scratches on the scooter and a bruised knee and a sore shoulder on me. I'll be taking it to the garage once my exams are over but for now I'm having to get the bus to uni

yeah I'm grateful for that, gutted about the scooter though. What's so annoying is over the summer I filled in the scratches and popped the dent out that were on it when I bought it, now it's scratched even worse and the dent is back

Really sorry to hear that. Give Dave a call at the London Scooter Body Shop, tell him the symptoms and see what he says. They are well regarded by London MVers for working on GTSs day in day out, really know their stuff and do good work at good prices

Depending where you are in SW London, CBS Whitton might be a nearer option for getting the brakes checked if they feel 'strange'. However the steering can easily be fixed by gently banging the bars against the end-stop, it's just the clamp at the top which has moved round a bit. They're designed to do that rather than break the steering lock when a perp tries to wheel it away.
