I had a yearling cat do that to my dog while he was on a leash... My dog is an American Staffordshire terrier!, The cat bit and scratched me up pretty good as I was trying to save his life from the jaws of my dog... Lucky for the cat, Tug dropped the cat when I told him to... He didn't get a chance to shake, as I was standing over him with his head between my legs and the cat solidly anchored to my leg with all his nails and teeth.
After going through that experience, I don't think I will do that again... Cat wants to jump on my dogs face, Sorry for his bad decision. .... Tug ![]() |

We had a Doberman Pincher that got in a tangle with a cat that came into our yard. The Dobie killed the cat, but she nearly died from the damage that the cat did. She need up needing a dain in her neck to get rid of the infection. Cat Scratch Fever is a real thing.

I've applied common sense and compassion dealing with all animals. Specific to the video, regardless of the species you should not go out and threaten any animal...they will protect themselves and moreso they will go ballistic if you threaten their brood. I could almost predict what was going to happen once the kitty stood her ground...how do I know it was a female...just my gut feeling.
You see this protective behavior in almost all animals. Closer to our own species, have you seen how the maternal instinct of a mother takes over if you were to threaten her child? Hairball, Your intentions were well grounded...good Karma will come your way. |

Deserved...
Why would you go out and kick snow at a cat. You'd be much more effective simply making noise and clapping your hands if you wanted it to leave.

If you read further in the story, you find that this was a feral cat that she "took in" then she wanted it gone.
After the cat attacked her, it was picked up by Animals Control and killed in order to find out if it had rabies or not. Ha, Ha...so funny. People are idiots. |

A guy in our warehouse cornered a feral cat that had wandered in. He ended up having to go in get cleaned up and had to get meds for infection. I love the dog at the end. The cat goes after him and he hauls ass to the door.

People who abuse animals deserve to be taken down a notch or two in the food chain. This woman got off easy, IMHO.

My tuxedo cat would put the same hurt on you if you threatened him like that. His name is Buddy too. Coincidence?
They all have different personalities but most all reach a point where they will fight. And once they have reached that point they are all in. No fooling around. No backing down. Fortunately they give a pretty good clues as to when they are getting close. Ears lay flat is the most obvious. When you see these play time is over. This woman should not be taking in stray cats until she learns better how to read them. And she definitely should not be taking in stray cats if this is how she thinks you control one. You can condition a cats behavior somewhat but you cannot do it with force or anything threatening. PS Though not always the case and there are lots of exceptions but generally dog people make horrible cat owners. At least in my experience. |

My wife and I use how people treat animals as an indicator of their overall persona. We were of the belief that virtually all people were basically compassionate towards animals . Sadly during the course of working with animal rescues, animal shelters, etc. we've been made aware of some some rather disturbing behavior from individuals who demonstrate cruelty towards animals. This was discussed and is a concern with our local law enforcement within our community they are interested in animal cruelty incidents and to have them reported to them along with a report to the SPCA / Humane Society. It is a concern that this type of behavior may be a characteristic of behavior bullying (picking on those who are deemed defenseless) to the point of physical abuse. Sad. ⚠️ Last edited by TB on UTC; edited 1 time

Put any animal under the right conditions and they will act instinctively to protect themselves...it's common sense...or at least should be. BTW we have a tuxedo cat...very mellow...very affectionate but if you attempt to hurt him he would swat you (claws retracted)...again just common sense. Perhaps there was a common sense shortage when it was being handed out or perhaps they by passed common courtesy and went back for seconds of stupidity? |

Cats that have not been socialized when they are kittens often do not make good pets. My current cat was feral and about 6 months old when I adopted her. I got lucky and she is very affectionate and well behaved. What that woman did is inexcusable. It looks like the video was taken from in the house where she lived. I am currently looking for a relationship. If the I were dating her and I saw that I would let her in the house only to collect her things and get out.

I hope this is one of those video's that goes public in her community and gets her spanked. Fuckwit, evil bastards are able to own animals. We adopt black cats, after to many years supporting breeders, and were told by animal control they are often the most abused. We hate films that use animal abuse for effect as well. I shouldn't have watched...

We had Blackie for 19 years and he just passed away 2 months ago and there are so many folks that commented on tough and yet sweet he was...we really miss him. |

We care for a feral cat (1 of a litter of 3) that hangs out at our house. His other 2 siblings won't come near us, no matter how hard we tried. We started with food, then got him used to us being near him while he ate, and one day he just started letting me pet him. That took almost 2 years. He now lets us pick him up and will snuggle up in our laps outside, but he refuses to come in the house. We named him Porkchop. Next step is getting him (and hopefully his siblings) fixed by the Humane Society under their Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage program.

Best cat tale by a mile! ell done. 2500 years of active domestication has given them needs we ought to tend.
New to me, wikipedia wrote: but there may have been instances of domestication as early as the Neolithic from around 9500 years ago (7500 BC).[10] |
