Witch - my not-so-secret-Santa - thank you! It's a Disney character riding a scooter, a jewel-like model of a 1952 Vespa 125, and a patch I will IMMEDIATELY apply to my rally jacket!
Again, thank you for a little surprise that extended my holiday

Thank You Charles (ckaiserca) for the awesome Maple Syrup! I've never had Canadian syrup before and I'm very looking forward to it. Love the can, too, very cool! I forgot to tell my wife I was in the gift exchange so she was quite confused when we received a can of syrup from Canada... We will enjoy it on some good ole Western-American Flapjacks!

Thanks again and Happy New Year.

Oh man! Great stuff. Their syrup is among the best. Charles rocks!

They're scooters and that's good enough for me!

I'm going to apply the sticker to the front of my scoot, after she's had a bit of a rinse....!

I keep getting notifications that the post office has tried several times (apparently unsuccessfully) to deliver the package I sent to the UK. I don't know what that means.

Was the recipient simply not at home and they left a 'call for' notice?

Is the recipient away on business/vacation and his mail is being held?

Was the address incorrect?

My post office says that there is no way to know until one of two things happens; the package is delivered successfully to the recipient... or it is returned to me as undeliverable.

It will be this. They *should* have put a card through the letter box to let them know the parcel is waiting for collection but they don't always remember to do this so you recipient may be unaware.

I know it ruins the mystery somewhat, but it's probably worth letting them know just in case....

When I get to work, I'll research this and let the recipient know. It'll be about an hour. I'm on the train.

No worries, the recipient and I have already exchanged PMs. Apparently he lives in some sort of a moated castle and he needs to make the rounds of all the entrances to see if the notice of attempted delivery is sitting near one of them. I hope he doesn't have to sack one of the downstairs maids!

We get packages from the outlaws in LA often. Sometimes we get hit with a customs charge, depending on what my mother-in-law writes on the customs form.

I've told her to write "unsolicited gift" and either "NCV" (no commercial value) or just put a nominal amount, like $10.

When she's dumb and writes "food stuffs, $80", we get hit with customs fees.

Nobody said she's smart........

When shipping overseas, you need to select DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) if you are shipping using UPS or Fedex. Also, set a very small value noting that the item is a GIFT and is NOT FOR RESALE. Be descriptive about the contents. If you put a zero value or avoid providing a description, it flags customs to investigate the contents.

My company ships hundreds of packages a month and rarely have duty or tax related issues.

I really have hit an international triple play. Year one Israel. Year two UK. Now year three NZ! If I didn't know better I would think SC has a thing for me.

Thank you znom...uh scooter Santa. Love the tee shirt and I googled it of course. I see what you did there. Wife is eyeballing the kiwifruit chocolate bar (she would have tried it but we are both down with the flu at present) and I am curious about the kiwifruit habanero sauce. May try it on scrambled eggs tomorrow if I have an appetite back. Thanks for the local flavor. Very thoughtful.

PS did you go with the OEM rollers or Dr. Pulleys for the sleigh?

Sticky the green sauce goes well with pretty much everything, well maybe not the chocolate.

The sleigh got treated to iridium rollers.

Puzzled
I have a feeling my gift arrived about a week ago. I apologize for the delay, but my wife and kids can be a little lax about retrieving the mail while I'm away on business, so I just picked it up it on Thursday.

My thoughtful gift came courtesy of DailyRider28465 of Oak Island North Carolina fame.

I know Daily Rider is from Oak Island North Carolina because after I read his thoughtful card (Note to self: Try to remember if I put a note in my gift before posting it!!!), I unpacked a really plush golf towel from the Oak Island Golf Club (it has already been installed in my pet warmer for wiping morning dew off my seat), and a gorgeous 550 piece jigsaw puzzle of the Oak Island Lighthouse, made from an image by William Mangum who seems to be quite famous for his images of North Carolina.

My wife and I used to do jigsaw puzzles with our big kids when they were younger, and had recently commented that we wanted to renew the tradition with our youngest now that he is alone at home. Perfect timing!

The box says 10-14 years, but I really, really hope it doesn't take that long to complete this thing!

Anyway, here are the before and after shots.

Color me a very happy camper!

Thanks Daily Rider! Not only will my seat be nice and dry, thanks to your golf towel... but our family will be spending many enjoyable evenings thanks to you!

Deal.

Now if only the gift I sent to the UK would ever arrive all would be right in the world. Is anyone else besides my long-suffering recipient still waiting for their gift?

Do you know for sure your counterpart never shipped?

I'm still waiting for a non-MV package from Toronto, shipped December 15th......
