Me neither. I wrote SC and let her know. I figured there is nothing she can do but ban my counterpart from playing next year.
Do you know for sure your counterpart never shipped?

I'm still waiting for a non-MV package from Toronto, shipped December 15th......
I don't know who my Santa was supposed to be and I don't have any shipping data. So...I still check the post daily to see if something arrives but we are over a month since the exchange began and I have sort of lost hope.

BTW, there are no sour grapes on this end. It was still fun to participate and while I am disappointed that nothing has arrived, I would do it again next year in an instant. It was fun sharing a bit of my home with a random member of MV! My recipient wrote me a nice note and seemed to genuinely enjoy the gift.

I should clarify my suggestion to ban. I did say SC could investigate and if it was determined that nothing was sent, that person might not be well suited to be included next year. Shit happens. Maybe that person had some financial issues (Christmas does that) or maybe it got lost in the post. I just didn't want someone else going through the daily ritual of disappointment that I have been...hehe.

As usual Judy, you are too kind. Not to seem ungrateful but I was more keen on the surprise than the actual gift. No need to trouble yourself with sending me something. I am blessed enough! In fact, today we hit 40 and I took a ride with my buddy. It was frosty but a beautiful day and a fun ride. That alone is good enough for me.

Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.

I finally received my parcel this weekend from non other than one of MVs global heroes Mr Treppenwitz!

I must admit when I saw I had got Trepp in the gift exchange I felt a bit like Accrington Stanley drawing Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup!

Many many thanks to Trepp, not only for his extremely thoughtful gifts and letter but also for his constant concern as to if I had received my parcel yet.

Long story short, old address given to Trepp, multiple phone calls to Royal Mail to rearrange delivery leading to not much happening at all until I finally talked to somebody who did not have their head up their ****!

Trepp, the chocolate is fantastic, the stickers are going onto my tool chest and the neck warmer came in especially handy this morning when it was 1degree C and frickin' freezing!

Thank you so much my friend.

P.s Schroedinger was right.......but I was not sure until I opened the box!

No I do not know if my participant ever shipped. I did send a pm to scooter chef but she never responded quit possibly because of her recent promotion. I too will participate next year.

I'm glad the carb arrived in good shape. There is a Prussian palace around the corner, where there is a Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) every year in the weeks before Christmas. One stall sells all kinds of things you would expect in a blacksmith's junk box. All made of chocolate and looking rusty. Most of them are tools, like hammers, tongs, spanners, but this year, they also had some cooler items, like the carb and even a camera. It's amazing what they can do with silicone moulds. I should try this myself one day. Makes for cool gifts. Maybe a chocolate Vespa signature.

All's well that ends well. Glad everything arrived safe and sound.

Enjoy the treats, stick the stickers where you will, and wear the neck warmer in the best of health. And very glad I poked those holes in the box and added a little extra food. I was really concerned the kitten wouldn't survive the delay.

Happy Valentine's Day?
When the mailman arrived today, he brought with him a little taste of the islands! Judy was a sweetheart and sent me a substitute gift

Inside the envelope was a guardian bell with a really cool Hawaiian theme and a bag of Island grown and ground coffee.

Mahalo!

(For some reason, my phone doesn't want to post a picture, so I'll have to do that from my computer later...)

Other than Judy's gracious replacement gift noted above I am not sure what there is to be done. People get in on it and there are many reasons why they don't follow through. That's the way it goes sometimes I guess.

I sent a PM to scoot chef a few weeks ago to let her know if be happy to adopt another recipient or two. But she may be busy with work and her impending move.

So if you signed up on time for the gift exchange and didn't got stiffed, please PM me. Judy is one of my heroes and I'm happy to follow her fine example.

I feel like a heel and I owe a pic and BIG public thank you to Judy for being my "Substitute Santa." Whoever got my name opted not to send and Judy being a sweet and generous person sent me coffee and the bell as well!

Thank you so much Judy. I already PM'd her a thank you and have already made her our first honorary member of TBSC. I will be sending her the patch and sticker once they arrive.

I will follow up with the pic once I get a moment. Like ScootChef, I am in the process of moving offices at the end of the month and still haven't had the time to work on my bike.

Sorry Trepp. I see your message. It's convention season at work and I'm swamped. Plus, three trips to New York since January 9 have kept me off the forum. The move is getting close and I have less time than ever these days.

I'm rather bummed out that a few people who wanted to participate, but then for whatever reason, didn't follow through --without an email even, let our MV family down. I've contacted a few of them, but get no responses.

Likely, 2013 will be the last year I'l coordinate the exchange. It's kinda heartbreaking and upsetting

There's "breakage" in every group effort, it's inevitable and no reflection on the group, and especially the organizer. Still, in a micro-community like this, Im a little surprised.

MV will lose a nice tradition made by possible through your selfless efforts, but hopefully this or something equally as fun and cool will find a way continue.

How about a public shaming of the deadbeats?
I volunteer to take over the exchange if that is OK with Scootchef and everyone else.
I'm happy to let you take it over in 2014, Matthew, and I'm even more happy to participate at a different level. So........first to submit my name as a participant in the 4th annual holiday exchange! My address will follow, as soon as I know what it is

That's great. I'm looking forward to it. I will definitely need plenty of advice and help. Any that you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I will PM you in the fall.

For some reason the text of my last post did not appear. I just said that I will welcome any help and advice that Scootchef wants to give me and that I will send you a PM in the fall when I am ready to start.

Sounds good. When the time comes, I'm glad to help. I will also send my "blacklist" when you're ready to take names.

The blacklist sounds like a good idea. Just in case one of the miscreants forgot that they'd forgotten last year.....and one failure is enough for the list, IMHO.

Kudos to VRM for keeping the tradition going. Clap emoticon

Thanks for keeping it classy, VRM.

Just so there is no misunderstanding, the blacklist consists of people I politely said "sorry, but no" to due to failure to follow through in any exchanges I have been a part of the past few years. I never planned on any public outing myself. I kept the list for reference and plan to pass it on to VRM so he can make a decision on if he wants to keep someone in a time out, or let the member off the hook. Things happen....
