Modern Vespa

Hey all,

im nearing the final step to complete my sprint restoration for my wife.

Im stuck on what to do wrt the wiring.

Had a look at the PX engine and it has 3 wires coming out of the engine from the px stator plate

I have a brand new Sprint Loom which has 5 wires iirc that connects in the junction box to what would have been 5 wires that come out of a sprint engine

items that i have to support this conversion

PX engine with stator plate, flywheel and electronic unit
Voltage regulator part no 16163900
Brake light switch "shutter" e.g. part no 18163700
All bulbs in 12V

what i dont have is the

Conversion wiring loom SERIES PRO, e.g. part no 8613400 from SIP.

I have the funds to order a Loom, but i unfortunately dont have the time to order it and have it couriered to South Africa, especially over festive when things generally "grow Feet" and never arrive


please electic wizz's please advise... i have 7 days to the unvailing for my wifes birthday on the 24th.. once the electrical is sorted i just need to run the cables then im done.

So basically what i need is, someone who can explain to me how to build my own conversion loom and how to connect it up.

Something isn't right. Take a picture of what you have. Show the wires from the stator.

Also: Please proofread what you posted. It is difficult to help when you give conflicting info. Sprint Loom coming from the stator? 12v break[sic] switch?

thanks for the Reply, i cant believe i typed out that post lol... i corrected it to make it much more easier to understand what i'm asking.

but still you say 3 wires offv a px stator

At the minimum you'd have 5 wires off a stator, at the most you'd have 7 for a starter model (battery).

You are over looking something.

3 wires? I take it that, it's a 12v points type stator?

The quick and dirty way to do it would be to:

run a wire from the engine's blue wire to the voltage regulator.
Then, run a wire from there to the taillight.
Run a wire from the regulator to the. Brake switch
Then from the brake switch to the brake light.
Run a wire from the red wire to the ignition coil
Run a wire from the red wire to the kill button
Run a wire from the black wire on the engine to the voltage regulator.
Run a wire from the black wire to the inside of the handlebars.(ground)
Ru n a wire from the voltage regulator to the. Headlight, or headlifht switch if you have a switch with the kill button on the front.

That will at least get it rideable.
